need help

hey , i came home last night , turned the car off now im trying to start it , you can hear it trying to start but no go , doesnt start up does anyone know why it wont start up , at first i thought it was no fuel left in the tank , but i went and got fuel and put it in and tried now it wont start up but you can hear it like it wants to but it doesnt :(

More information need Vrom. Is it actually firing at all? Did you have any problems before shutting it down last? How is your battery? Can you hear the starter motor spinning (try giving it a tap with a wrench while someone tries to start it)?

man , it trys to start up i can hear it trying spinning but nothing happens , where should i tap it , the battery is in good has power etc.. all good but the thing turns you can hear the engine trying to start but doesnt quiet actually start :( :( :( :( and no problems when i shut it down

bro all i know is late last night , coming back from maccas , i scraped the bottom of the car pretty hard , but have no leaks what so ever , but.... i didnt shut down till i came home , then next morning i woke up to start it which was today and no go , can i have done something underneath the car ? how can i check everything i put petrol and still no go i thought it was finished but i dont think the petrol is reaching the engine coz it makes the sound like its going to start just stays in one place trying and nothing happens

Could be a bad water temp sensor reading (could your wires be shorted together?), or the TPS being way out of place but it shouldn't have changed at all (however it can vibrate out of position and still be fairly accurate when warm, but be slightly out of place when cold). Just trying to think of the non-major reasons for not starting. If you didn't hit or scrape the bottom too hard it shouldn't have caused the problem or u probably would've known about it straight away.

Man , noise comes you can hear the engine sort of trying to start errm errm then doesnt quiet make its destination of starting up , and no i didnt scrap it hard , but there is power in the car when you turn the key stero , etc... all lights work just seems like petrol isnt going in the car from the tank or something wont tick to start

i dont think i can hear the pump noise , where abouts is the pump to double check its sending petrol down , cheers

best way to check the fuel is to take the fuel line off the fuel rail and crank the engine.. if there is a problem with the pump no fuel will come out of the line......

The fuel pump is actually in-tank. Best thing to do would be to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel regulator/engine (leave the hose exiting the filter on there) and turn the key so the pump should be on. Just put a glass bottle there to catch the fuel :)

If you find its not doing anything it might just be the fuel pump relay which is located in the engine bay I think. Check the manual for more info on that one. Let me know if it is pumping tho, I'll think about it for u.

where abouts in the engine is that so i can go see and check it out , coz its pissing me off , i can hear it trying to start but doesnt quiet start i can hear bloody engine about to start then i get pissed off

Its a silver (well ryco & nissan ones are) cylinder held in a bracket on the firewall. Looking at the engine bay its just to the right of the engine. Otherwise goto the back of the plenum on the right hand side & u should find a fuel line around there leading directly to it.

Ok Fuel pump relay just above fuse under dash near hood poper!

Have u tried clutch starting???

Get a couple of mates sit in tha car put it into 1st hold tha clutch down turn tha key to on... Now wait till your mates have got u upto a fair speed about 10kms/hour and let tha clutch out quick BANG it'll grab and should start tha engine!

When you start your car normally... do u wait for the fuel pump to stop before cranking?

Does the engine actually start up like go "blug blug" and just not get going?

man , it trys starting up , i can hear the thing burp burp but no go after that stays in the same spot and doesnt wanna start , i wanna try heal starting the only problem is , if i push it its a hill going down then if it dont start up , pushing it back up is the hard bit! :(

It's prolly ur FPR gone haywire... check all your VAC lines and such...

Pull out tha fuel pump fuse try starting ur car then it should start on 2nd / 3rd go, but ya gotz ta be quick putting tha fuse bak in once it starts!

man i dont even know where all these parts are , i just got the car got any idea where these FPR Etc.. the things you told me where can i find them and try get it to start cheers , tell me the spot exact ill go do it

i dont think , fuel is coming to my engine i think its blocked or something because the starter motor spins but nothing happens it just spins and engine wont start , anyone tell me exact places i can look to see whats happining like the location of the fuel pump etc.. that may fix this problem cheers , hardly anyone knows where everything is in a exa bay :(

Problem solved , hahaha i called my uncle over and he fixed it in 30seconds lol , you know how you got the + of the battery and it has all these fuses and things connecting one of them was out of it , he put it back in and it started lol YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY thank everyone

dood... what are these 'fuses' u are talking about? I have a few connectors and what not lots of different wires!

I was thinking maybe one of mine is like partly in/out and making it start sometimes and not others!

im talking about all the wires going to the battery attached to the main metal on the + of the battery , one of them came out , and the car wouldnt start up , my uncle put it back in and it worked again hehe
