3 -whats it take to be a mod? Mostly knowledge and a person whos been around the forums for more then 10 minutes... Youd be surprised how long some ppl have been here
4 -what is there purpose? to keep the forums tidy and stop shit fights...
5 -when do they get changed? when ppl stop coming on the forums when they are a mod they get replaced with the next best person for the job
6 -why do they go on power trips? i have no idea.. i dont trip..

being a mod isnt just about deleting and editing posts... its about trying to keep ppl happy and these days ... its not easy..but we all do our best...
if somethings happening and we dont like it (say like two members or many members getting damn nasty towards each other on the forums infront of the whole club) gets discussed it just doesnt disapear on its own...

its kinda like the older you are the wiser you are.. even if you dont think so .. :)
besides if you have a problem with a mod you can always pm howie or warren and discuss it with them...

I mainly get loadz and loadz of PMs that i try to answer as helpfully as i can.

1 -how does someone become a moderator? One has to believe in ones self and one shall shine amongst the rest... then hey presto.
2 -do they change? Yeh i think so. Like now i tend to read into replies more.
3 -whats it take to be a mod? Knowledge and dedicated member.
4 -what is there purpose? As Kylie said. Maintain the forums and keep the largest majority of members as happy as possible.
5 -when do they get changed? After one has fullfilled 1 & 3.
6 -why do they go on power trips? We dont... do we??? If you think we are... think 'why do i think the mo is having a power trip, what would i have done if i was a mod'. We usually (teething mistakes sorry guyz) dont make decisions to do things unless the rest of the mods agree.

If you've got a problem... confront them otherwise go to Howie &/or Warren!

(not targeting any mods in particular) but as a mod u r here to basically inforce the law and keep it running smoothly, deleting abusive threads...... i myself find it disturbing wen mods themselves start usuing abusive language, especially on the public boards and personally i dont even think they should in pm's....just like bak in primary skool ur teachers WERENT ALLOWED to abuse u at all kno matta how much of a little cockhead u were....

Seggy jumped to (incorrect) conclusions and started abusing Chirs/Blood..

But people make mistakes, Seggy should've apologised and his post should've been quickly edited or deleted to stop anymore damage being done..

Instead Blood, a moderator, went to war with some equally impressive cussin.. Chris should've handled things in a more gentleman like fashion.. however I can understand his anger in the situation.. but still its not leading a very good example for the rest of us to follow.. especially when you dont approve of other members exhibiting similar bad behaviour..

I was./still am a bit pissed that i was blammed for backstabbing a useful member of this club

here is how i knew...

I agreed, and moved on to other convo's with him.

When i arrived home.. i seen all the posts about it, so i put up a post "sorry to wreck your fun - Akela is not the new owner hee hee"

I can see now how ppl may have thought it was me...
It was not me.... i knoew about it ..

Now to explain the post - "Sorry to wreck your fun" was directed at the members that were all saying that Akela got the car.... A figure of speech that i should have re-worded in a better way

The "Hee hee" at the end, was meant as " i know who the new owner is, and im not telling !"

So thats is it.. again.. sorry to Seggy for the out burst, but i was/am very annoyed how ppl will rub my name in the mud, when it wasnt true.. and especially after all the effort/time i put into the forum/club.

Akela is a good mate of mine, and he was utterly disaspoiinted after tseeing wot looks like that he wasnt able to fix his mates car..to get it back on the road since he cant afford parts

and im not aiming the questions at u blood, im aiming them at other mods who i and a few others think could b replaced with better ones. Im not tryin to cause trouble, im trying to make this club wot it was a few months ago... a friendly enviroment where exa's can b discussed and praised

Blood, you should know better than retaliating the way you did. Doing things in a civilised manner will always help more. Maybe next time don't post that you know who did it, as that type of thing will always get peoples' backs up.

Seggy, never jump to conclusions. And on top of that, if it looks like you're getting your back up in a post, others will assume you are, and give it back to you. Try to think about what you post, read it, and see if anyone might read it and think it's aggressive.

Most arguments here start with misunderstandings. If people don't think about what they post carefully, there will always be these kind of arguments.

XAdood, resend your original PM. I thought I'd answered it? I try to answer everything, but I get that many people on my back asking me to do things around here, it's hard to remember what I have and haven't done... I do try though...


As for the original 6 questions -

1 -how does someone become a moderator? I handpicked several a few years ago that frequented the forums, were honest in what they posted, and didn't get into immature arguments.
2 -do they change? Everyone changes. If they change for the worse, and it gets noticed, something will be done.
3 -whats it take to be a mod? Honesty and Integrity. Being on the boards quite often is an advantage.
4 -what is there purpose? To keep all things in order, whether it be disagreements between members, or things being posted in areas they shouldn't... Without them, this place'd just be a warfield.
5 -when do they get changed? See #2
6 -why do they go on power trips? I don't think any have had power trips to be honest. If anyone sees anyone being power hungry, or just doing things in spite of others, or anything that might be bad for the club, let me know, and something will be done.
