nick here
I have a pretty well stock 1984 exa and when i first start it when it is cold it takes of like a rocket and the acceleration is smooth though all gears But when it gets into opperating temp it runs really bad and splutters around and when i go to take of it jurks about in all gears ps i just rebuilt the motor and had i new air flow meter installed and had the computer checked and it was all fine even the conections pps I have been told by an exa owner that the ditributers have been known to make this happen does anbody know

yeah the exas have a pretty dodgy dizzy setup.. have you checked yoru dizzy cap?

i wouldnt be fanging it while its cold hehe you should let it warm up normally befor eyou thrash it.

maybe it just needs a tune after the rebuild

nick again
I have had it tuned twice by two different people since i did the motor it has cost about 600 dollars So would the dizzy cap make it run bad when hot or all the time because the problem is only when it is hot PS what should i look for in the dizzy cap (pps) and i dont thrash it cold but i do once the turbo is hot

You really should look at your afm beacause when the dizzys go there gone but if your afm is badly ajusted or if when u rebuilt the engine and u put the new afm maybe you should try your old one but i rekon that would b your best bet cause if it was your dizzy it would do it all the time... well anything is werth a go hey??:hitwall:

hey dude

It only plays up when the car gets hot... check your ignition leads and the coil pack. It could be breaking down.. electrical components don't like heat.... also when you check your dizzy.... it could be the crank angle sensor inside the dizzy...

good luck

you need to check the diagnostics while the engine is running with te problem.
n12 ecu dont store codes, has to be on the run -CAS or ign transistor to me, does the tacho go spastic???

you can pull over and turn te thing and get code, drive around a bit in 2 gear @ 20 ks this clear tps, speed sensor etc, and turn aircon on and off see whats left over, thats why n12 comp allways gives codes from dynamic sensors(tps, afm, cas, ign transistor

hey dude

I found that even you check the N12 Ecu, it still ain't very accurate. Sometimes one sensor can make another sensor play up and the ecu might detect several sensor are malfunctioning..

Also if you change the coil pack make sure you wire the factory resistor... i canged mine to a large Accel coil pack, i never had problems with it... mind you i couldn't close the bonnet so i had to modify the my strut tower with a drill and some big ass screws
