I found an item on ebay for a nissan sentra that is similar to a performance chip and they claim that it adds 20 hp. Its supposed to advance your timing and adjust your fuel/air mixture. I bid on it cause its only like 5 bucks I'll let you guys know if it actually works or not. If it does there's a whole sh*t load of them for sale on there. Just type in "nissan sentra/20hp" in the search.

be careful

if it adjusts your timing too advanced and runs your car too lean, it will cause detonation and kill your engine!

get it installed by a professional and tested!

is it a whole ECU replacement?

I believe thats just a resistor. That's what someone said as a feed back for that seller.

rofl yes its just a resistor, i questioned the guy and he was raving about them initially. I then replied and questioned his theory and he quickly shutup :p

Avoid them, my advice :D

if its a resistor between your air flow sensor and your ecu, it can trick the computer into runner slightly leaner, giving a bit more power...

this is simply how the S-AFC's work, except they can monitor this and make sure its not going to lean out and die

don't do this unless your 100% sure its going to workfine.

so basicly if ya have a aftermarket ecu, than its pointless, right?
Particuarly seeing how ya can adjust that no prob.

Exactly what is detonation ?
My cars running really rich atm, got it booked for this coming thursday to get dyno tuned
atm
sometimes when i get on boost, it actually loses power, sounds abit tinny in the engine bay
when i hear it i backoff
dunno if its detonating cos of how rich it is or what
but when i boot it, its constant black soot

the black soot is because the engine is running too rich, too much fuel in the combustion process.

Detonation, or Pinging, usually occurs when the engine is running too lean, or too much boost, or too hot.
Basically what happens is the fuel and air that is in the cylinder ignites before its fully compressed, so the force of the combustion presses against the piston thats moving up, putting huge amounts of stress on the piston, and the crank.

It usually stalls the engine if it happens at low rpm or idle.
It makes a big PING noise.

I've only ever been in a V8 that did it. 2002 5.7L alloy chev V8 HSV. It went Ping. The engine stalled, and was never the same again!

Get it dyno tuned ASAP! Get your air fuel ratios and your timing sorted at ASAP! if you ping. it will die! and terrorists will come and kill you and eat your carcass.
