ok heres the scene..........

i have a deck, 4x 6.5 inch sony speakers, 1x 12 inch sub (going to make that 2 subs later on), 1x 840watt 4 channel amp, 1x 300watt 2 channel amp.......................... what i want to know is the best setup i can have with all of these and what i connect to where......i want alot of bass but also a fair bit of trebble without any cracking because the problem i have with my current setup is that there is bass going to 2 of my speakers and they start to crack with alot of bass......all ideas welcome....thanks

What i'd suggest is to use the two channel amp and wire your left two speakers into an 8 ohm config and hook it up to the left channel of the amp. Do the same for the right. This means that the two left speakers act as on large speaker with more power handling. Plus turn the crossover on the amp to hi-range. The 4 channel amp should be bridgable and use this to power your two 12s. This will give you full sic bass and quality hopefully. Oh yeah if you want wach a capacitor on the posotive terminal between the highrange speaker and the amp to cut out all bass.

thanx cuz......umm i already tried doing that but the problem is that when i put the bass up from my deck, it still sends the bass to the "high range speakers" so when i crank it, they start cracking....on the other know where do i get this capacitor, how many do i need, how much r they, how do i connect them and where etc

ok... a CAP is used like a balloon to give power when the bass pumps a low beat that needs more power then it can get thru the power cable...
It sits there and like a balloon 'fills up' with power while the car is running and when it needs that little boost it's there! So as not to drain the AMP causing the amp damage over the long term!
When u shut the car off or get continuasly low frequencies the CAP 'deflates' like a balloon that has no knot in the end!
And will not fill back up till the Power supply increases or LOW freq's stop!

hmmmmm so does that mean that it takes the bass and holds it in instead of sending it to the speakers and when the amp needs it, it takes sum?

Basically yes, a cap cuts low range. You can get them from Jaycar or dick smith. You'll need a rather big one. Below is a diagram of how to hook one up for a high pass(meaning bass cut). Actually have a look at this web page it'll explain everything to you plus help you determine what cap you need. http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/passxovr.htm

thanx ppl :D however is there a way to stop my deck from sending bass to one amp from itself...like maybe fading or sum shit like that......for example 2 of my mates connected their speakers to the deck and the sub to the amp and only the amp gets the bass

just make sure on your 4 channel amp that your running your speakers at Hi Level..

this could be the cause of you getting too much bass to them and them distorting. they are probably set on Lo level which is basically what u use if you run a sub woofer to get the deep bass and not the treble through the subs.

just a thought.

hey troublesum are your amps bridgeable if so make the 4 channel amp a more powerful 2 channel amp for ur speaker amp, and brige ur 2 channel amp and make it a 1 channel amp for ur sub

just some ideas
