hey, just put 17 inch chromies on my car, they are 17 x 7 with 205 40 series rubber.
just wanna know if anyone else has put em on, i have used a 5mm spacer and they clear the suspension and control arm, but they scrub on the back, front and top of the guard, ive rolled them, but it seems to scrub in odd places.
has anyone else had this hassle?

i had scrubbing on the top bit of wher ethe rear bumper is bolted onto the guard, i just ground it more tihnner and redilled new bolts further down. also had to get a hammer in there and do some minor work,
for the insidewall i got a big piece of wood and tried to smack it as far in as possible and it worked as well.
i found that with these mods and a few others like taking the hairs off the inside of the tyres :chuckle: it was all fine and i could even go lower.
mine was low enough to scrub the flared part of the guard that was tapering in, but t was still a daily driver.

only the rear ones scrub (prob should have said that :hitwall: )
85exaboy that is exactly where mine was scrubbing, i solved that prob, basically did what you did, but now it scrubs on the front, about halfway down the little plastic mould thing.
it pushed the mould off, so i lost the clips, and the tire caught the guard, did a bit of damage to the tyre and pulled the guard back making it scrub more.
i didnt really wanna roll them there cause this means i cant put on a set of side skirts, or i guess i will have to custom modify them.
either way the 17's look friging sick! and every one in the whole town has told either me or my gf that.
people that hate me or my car even changed their mind. SO there is hope for the little exa yet.

its not that bad, it will depend on how low you want to go. you wont know how bad it is until you try hehe
it sthe sme with all small cars with big rims, theres no way aroudn it.

my steering actually got lighter, i will wait and see though, im getting a wheel alignment so it might get stiff after that

a wheel alignment should not go and make the car lighter should it... i was told it would b the same...

Hey,
he doesnt mean literally ben.... But it would be lighter to steer because the wheels would be all lined upo correctly and doing there job 100% right...

you cannot adjust the cambre on the rear wheels, the lower you go the more camber you will get and it is noticable, after a while the outside will look brand new and the inside will be balder than a bitch.
on the front you might want some camber, more is actually better if you really want to slam it, it wont help your traction problems, but it should relieve some of the scrubbing.. btw the contact patch of 205/40 tyres are a hell of a lot better than the crappy 175/60 or so stockies.
