I believe Warren had one in GeePee before he went to exa heaven. You should ask him. I know he still has his floating around somewhere I think. His was a sony.

quality is lower because the compression is higher.
compare a song in mp3 format with a file size of 6 megs to the same one but only 3 megs. the 3 meg one is lower quality allowing for greater compression (same play length in files)

sorry bit of a typo. mp3 was meant to be MD. but still. everything else i said remains the same.

i was just comparing it to mp3's. a cd is like a 6 meg mp3 where as a minidisk is like a 3 meg mp3 (same mp3 just lower quality to allow for more compression)
the MD compresses the song more than on a CD so the quality drops.

Ure best bet is to pm warren about the quality of MD - i can remember cruising with him on many an occasion and there was no issues with sound quality
but hey there just my thoughts.

as for the quality of sound... don't you dare go saying it's less than mp3....
A minidisc holds around 120meg of data... The compression on minidisc is much lower than an mp3. Also, the ATRAC compression is much more reliable in keeping quality than the fraunhoffer equivalent...
Minidisc rivals CDs with a lot of music, because it only compresses sound that has little noise. It works the same way as mp3, but to a lesser extent....
no sound issues at all, MD rocks

if i had the pc equipment and the dollars to setup a MD system i would but i dont
so i think when i finally get a car, money (and u all know the rest of the speel) - i will prolly get a normal Mp3 CD HU, but get a MD stacker and normal CD stacker as well
but the only brand i know that have MD stackers and CD stacker off the one HU are Sony,
AND I DON'T WANNA STOOP THAT LOW YET, LOL @ Wazza

well you may not have to...alpine has recently brought out a new MDHU and this could possibly be followed by a stacker...

oh... and the other advantage of MD.... lend it to your woman, and it won't get scratched... or even better, don't lend it to your woman, because she doesn't even know what MD stands for....
another advantage... friends riding in your car can't request their crappy music to be played ;) unless they have MD of course....

Hey now!! Not all girls are car stupid!!
I've never heard one of Kenwood MD players, but I have the Kenwood KDC-MP8017 in my car, and I love it... not the best of the best, but definatly good. I wish Eclipse's hu's were better looking... they sq is awesome, but I gotta have a lil of both...
