My mileage is pretty much the same as everyone else's - between 420-480kms to a tank ( haven't busted the 500km mark yet ). If i were you maybe , Firstly : remove intake plenum the oxy sensor lives on , and give it a clean ( clean the oxy sensor by gently shaking it in a tin of alcohol will do the trick ) Secondly : clean the throttle body with a tin of carby cleaner. Its amazing how much crap builds up in there. And thirdly & finally Might be your injectors. Get em cleaned. If this doesnt improve your mileage, then you may need to seek some professional help.
Hope this is a help

I'd try checking the spark plugs, spark plug leads and fuel filter first. Maybe run some injector cleaner. Your O2 sensor is the plug on the front of your exhaust manifold and they're not too cheap to replace.
We have a 50L fuel tank, but the fuel light should come on at around 40L. There's around 10L of fuel in a reserve tank.
I used to get around 7.5L/100kms with a mix of highway and suburban/city driving, which is over 650kms for the 50L. The fuel gauge is usually inaccurate, so the best way to measure your fuel economy is to fill the car up and reset te odometre. When you fill up the next time, divide the amount of fuel you poured by the number of kms you travelled and multiply that by 100.
Oh yeah I'm running Optimax with 19degree timing and my fuel economy has increased. I used to get around 9L/100kms with the same driving style.

ive got this same problem as well
i get around 200-250km on a full tank till it hits the red line (at around 30-35L) (i read somewhere that the reserve tank on an nx is 15L)
the thing is i only drive my car to and from school and maybe a couple hrs on the weekend.

so the guage is inacurate because i have not yet seen the fuel light come on yet, and i am tooo paranoid to keep driveing.

hrm i dont think so..
like the fuel gauge hits the empty part when u have around 15L mark, just a way of letting u know u need to fill it up, also incase u need the extra 15L for something
plus its not good to drive until u have absolutely no petrol left

I locate the o2 sensor this morning, infront of the exhaust manifold, anyone know how to remove it? is it simply unscrew the clean it with alcohol?

The Quoted Nx tank size is 50 Litres. I've never put more than 40Litres in my tank and the most i've done on that is 492kms. - so i should get about 650kms to a full 50 litres.?????? who knows

you might have to use some - 'penetrine'(loosens up rusted and seized parts)to help you remove it, and something stronger than alcohol to clean it with .

50 L??? No way! Unless my fuel guage is lying to me when it's sitting on empty :) I reckon it's a 40 or 45 L tank...

i think mine is the same. my guage will be under the empty line and when i fill up its only about 38L till its filled. also i think my empty light doesnt work cause i have never seen it on and i have been so close to running out of fuel.

My Nissan NX-r Owners Manual quotes 50Litres - i dont really believe it either - i'll just have to run her dry and carry a spare 5 litres in the boot. I dont blame you for not being a true believer , if anyone has any info , please tell - i've never had the low fuel light come on either , but if the quantity is correct , i've never used more than 40litres , so there has always been 10 litres of fuel in the bottom of the tank

yeh i thought that about my light as well, but i wonder sometimes by looking at my fuel gauge and seeing how far under empty it is. dont think it could go much futher lol

the tank is 50L
the reserve is at 15L
so at 35L the needle should be on empty telling u to fill it up again
meaning that u have 15L left in the tank incase of an emergency or something

that sounds about right.
there is always a little left over for that extra few K's

I found the fuel light comes on really late, when the needle is below the red line.
(I would assume once it starts using fuel from the reserve tank)

change the KNG o2 sensor a week ago, the milage is pretty much the same
, anyone know other reason for this huge fuel consumption,
injector have been clean 2 month ago :(

I cracked 500 k's - 515 actually for 42Litres - still no fuel light on. FYI

That's pretty darn good!
I drove to Sydney from Melbourne when I bought my car - 650kms and the light wasn't on yet (but it's seen it plenty of times since - $1.17/l petrol :jabbermou ) and I reckon I could have made it close to home.

Well i'm being a daredevil and drivin home from nightshift in an hour or so - tanks just on the redline , no fuel light yet and i've done 512kms - hope i make it home ( its about a 30km drive)either way , i'm pretty pleased with the fuel consumption :guiness:
PS - by the way haven't forgotten about the b13 manual on CD , will make copies for a few of you guys in a few weeks - studyin and workin my ass off at the moment .... lol.

my car has shit fuel economy, around 200-250k's on 30-35L
i.e. city driving for short distances
which could be one reason for its shit fuel economy but could it also be my driving technique?
i usually rev up to 3000 rpm before i shift whta about u's?
@_@NX
13th October 2004, 06:20 PM
that is what i am thinking as well
but did have record driving 290 per 30L once when i drive for a long distance,
shifting gear on low rpm won't help much i use to shift gear no more than 2500 but the fuel milage are pretty much the same :P
but that is like grandma style.................... :chair:

Finally got my fuel light to come on - 543kms and it just came on - harder to see during daylight , its very faint, but it works none the less. Cant believe the price of petrol - filled up yesterday for 1.18c - Crazy !!! :devilhapp
