i know some N12s came out with the sunroof.

has anyone installed a sunroof themselves in an N12 that didn't have it, or ever had the idea of say targa tops like the N13 or a full convertable idea.

i've heard of one N12 that had a hard top convertable... but im just interested in the whole concept.

would you need to get engineering certificates for a simple installation of a sunroof? or would that only apply to say installing targa/full convertable?

:trippa:

I've also pondered this myself
I'd love a nice Sunroof in my n12 exa

Targa top in an n12 exa would look, hrrrm strange ?
Would look like an MR2 i reckon

targas would definately be unique to say the least :)

i think i might look into the sunroof idea myself over next month or so. damn money it'd be so much easier if we could just make everything we need!

might try a few wreckers see what they got in the way of some sunroof glass and stuff

i reckon an N12 would almost look like an old bmw/merc convertable just in the squarish appearance without the roof... a true 80s beasty!

Hey,
yeah - there a few rare n12 convertables from the factory - but they had a soft top. to convert something like that costs some serious cash (and if any of you know me - that kinda cash spent to get no more killowatts is a waste!!!) Not sure on how you would go about fitting a sunroof - may not be possible... Could be really easy if the exa's that dont have a sunroof have no support members or cross bracing in the area you want to install the sun roof.... Let me know when you do it!

mine has a sunroof its a 85 PulsarNX it not the kind that like open all the way by rolling back into the roof but the kind that you can prop open just to like vent the air out if anyone is interested i will take some pics of it to give you an idea about how you would put one in and what it looks like with one in it..

yea, my n12 had a sunroof!
http://www.drivewild.8m.com/custom2.html

if u look way back in this forum u will see a thread i wrote contemplating targa tops from an mr2 and even full convertable, we discyssed the need of a full rollcage etc
*ive just had a look and it must be on the old board*

one thing i came up with was that u could cut the sheetmetal off the roof and instead have a hard fibreglass cover that clips in and out, one BIG sunroof ;)

but when i get muh n12 turbo im definately gonna chop the roof, make a fibreglass hardtop, custom rear guards so i can fit 20s, turb frame chassis up front also supporting 20s, airbag/hydraulic suspension so i can sit it on the ground, E15ET mounted Nth Sth running the rear wheels. yep.. look out for this one :D

I use to work @ mitsubishi
all cars that came through had all the cross members in place
basically mitsubishi couldnt be fucked changing the design of the cars, so they either come out with a sunroof or no sunroof with crossmembers n shit all in place
