Arrrrrggghhhh! Exhaust Leak

i parked my car tonight and my bro jumped out and says to me does your car always make that noise

well needless to say i got pissed off ( sick of him thinking he knows it all) and stormed out of the car only to find a fairly substantial exhaust leak

car was running a bit off after that but i still managed to give it to a few people off the lights

oh and i pulled off my first 180 handbrakey
perfect without a hitch i was quite pleased with myself

my exhaust makes this hissy/sucking noise and i have no idea what it is. it sounds like its about .5m or so back from the tip. any idea what that would be?

well my sound is a definate leak cause you can here a putting sound coming from front end somewhere

yours could probably be a leak to but maybe a smaller one and the gases are maybe just speezing out

try getting underneath when the car is running and run your hand along the exhaust fairly close and you should be able to feel exhaust gases on your hand if there is a leak somewhere

Hey,
steve - your will most likely be a blown exhasut manifold gasket. Cost about $9 and will take you about half an hour to change.

Crazy - I would have a look to see if you have a hole (could be small) around the far back in your exhaust... Not sure what else could make that kinda noise....

chaos, im pretty sure your sound isnt an exhaust leak, it is the fuel pump!

sometimes sounds like the exhaust though

if it is the fuel pump is that just an indication that it needs replacing/repairing?
are the fuel pumps in the fuel tank?
would you have to get that fixed professionally?

sam: where do i find a gasket for the exhaust housing - dump pipe? I have major exhaust leak!

hey guys

well i found my problem whoever the guy i bought my car off got to do his exhaust was just gay
this is a brand new exhaust and the leak is where the pipe is welded to the flange of the turbo and it is like the whole way around the pipe

am getting it fixed on wednesday

but you know i cant go one day without a problem cause i cracked a mag on friday night and turns out they are german mags imported from japan on a GSR and may not be available though

it was the bad roads fault though hit a monster pothole so gonna see what i can squeeze out of local council

oh yeah where is the fuel pump cause i have that same hissing sound on my car
