Does anyone know where i can source a good bodykit for an 1988 exa?, i know of one from jet speed but it doesnt really do it for me, any pics or designs would be great, im building an autosalon contender so it needs to be the goods. Also is it possible to remove the red colour from the taillights to make them clear? i think youd agree it'd look great ,also clear indicators and parkers,
Any help here would be great!!!

there is no "off the shelf kit" availble for the exa besides the jetspeed one.. and there is also a front bar at online performance (off LEBSTA and AMA21M) the pics are in the gallery but unfortunatley the gallery is unavailbe atm..
and for the clear tail lights.. a guy in america (phatsar) has got clear tail lights on his exa... costed a bit to... NX EXA knows a bit more bout them than i do...

Yeah boost is rite.... but if ur makin an auto salon contender... ur gonna have to b unique... and if ya bodykittin and stuff... the only way is custom... not custom fittin but a bar made from scratch.... that suits the car... only setback is they cost heaps like anywhere from 1k - any limit for just the front bar unpainted and unfitted.... so yeah depends on ya budget.... it just depends on money and the elaborate strengths ur gonna go to...
make sure if u do it... bring it ova to perth so i can have a look at it!

im thinking of maybe customizing the jetspeed kit by adding on a bit here and there, dont worry you'll see it though, once its starts to look the goods i'll post pics, in the next month or 2 im putting on a set of 18" vault mags, and taking it from there,
Thanks for the advice

oh oh btw u say u want clear tail lights.. r u gonna b drivin on tha streets with this car.. or strickly show car? if strictly show car tint the lights i reakon they look more aggressive and just plain nicer... cant wait man... 18's!!!!!!!!! damn i thought 17"'s were the biggest and i thought they fully rubbed the guards.. hehehe... must b strictly show.....

haha yeah im gonna struggle to get them under the guards, but im getting them rolled the day b4 i buy the mags( by the way if anyone wants guard rolling it's only $60 per guard, look through the ad section in the back of hot 4's and theres a company you can do it through- its heaps cheaper than i thought just so you know) its also gonna be a struggle getting clear taillights too but oh well.
Also can anyone help me decide on which mags to get... im getting vaults but i dont know wheather to get the 5spoke ones or the 4spoke ones with the star in the middle- anyways if anyone gets a chance let me know what you think cause it'd be good getting other oppinions to help me choose
thanks

something that would grab my eyes at a autosalon would be a tuff looking car not a flashy one
so discreet skirt job no neons no two hundred exhaust tips (2 max)stripped interior with lots of single coloured material or carbon fibre
no gauges on the bonnet small and hidden stereo
well thought out turbo conversion with custom intake manuifold and plenty of pefromance things(catch cans strut braces master cylinder stopper and things like that get the marks)
plain rims that dont really grab attention but massive cross drilled slotted two piece brake discs with 4 spot calipers on the front and slotted on the rear
plain paint
no metallic in fact a solid colour at the most carbon fibre bonnet and possibly even a roll cage
basically everything u dont see at the autosalon:)
thats just my opinion

kameleon...
you'll be in for a treat when you see my next pulsie-hehe-if thats what you like!
mines in the shop already started(she is stripped to the frame), motor is gone next week...sorry no turbo though-hehe,
i hate interiors...give me a roll bar, 4 points and seat(s), bunch a buttons, a few gauges, some little fat street slicks...listen to induction, exhaust, and smell the fumes...
no stickers, black windows...cant wait...

now let me start by stating im not having a go at u ttrix
this is just a single minded opinion that i have
i absolutely hate ure car
i really don't like any aspect of it but wat makes me look at the pictures and look up to wat uve done to the car is the a. the composite materials and b. yopur having a good go and making it work
i am a big fan of weight savings
especially wheels i absolutely hate big heavy rims
they can be big but please please please give me some nice light weight ones
i also like painted rims not chrome
at present i am exploring the realms of carbon fibre and fibreglass
ill actually start when i have the time to do some of it
it won't all be going on until my car has been set at the right height and also has some nice white gun metal grey or gold rims to bouch for
i like the street race look without the wankyness
sorry if i have offended you
it's definately not meant that way
i did in fact though like ure old exa the one with the gold trims
sleeper look

kam...
i know you werent carving-hehe
just have a feeling if thats what you like then you will definatly like the 5th one i have on the go right now-hehe
it'll have no weight, motor with all possible internals, and all the goods inside with the bads removed-hehe
i am not a fan of the "street ricer"(and i meant it with an "i"-hehe-look.
i like true performance add-ons...not fake ram air hoods etc...
as for the black pulsie...god i miss that car...
that was my 3rd and my favourite(so far)!
everything was blacked out-even the wheels(13x7's on that one too-hehe-love the little fat wheels).
that thing was done inside and out but two weeks after it was completed my best friend wrote her off-ya it sux.
dont worry, i'll keep everybody posted on my progress...as soon as the motor is in then i can do the exhaust then the new body style.
later

Dont need them rolled man... Ur biggest problems will be from the struts... Get the place where u get the rims to bash the struts up a little with a BIG hammer.... When u get home, u will need to take out the front plastic inner guards, and mayb put a spacer on the right rear.. Thats what i did to fit mine, hopefully it will be the same with yours...
Where u getting the rims from?? how much u gotta spend? do u want chrome or painted?
Oh and the tail lights, forget that part unless uve got alot cash handy and know someone who can do it 4 u... Ive really got no-one in mind that would be able to do that sort of work, without ALOT of customising and ALOT of time and money

i thought rolling them would have been sufficient but maybe your right, will they charge me extra to alter the struts? Im getting 18" Vault Crystal rims costing me $2600 from temp( chrome ) so they should look pretty tough. oh by the way a mate said that im gonna need an engineers certificate for my wheels and lowering and shit, is this true? i mean fuck im only lowering and upsizing the rims, why i need a certificate 4 that? i may need one later for all of the future mods but fuckin hell are cops really that tight?
oh yeah your car looks great the chromed front grill looks really good, and also did the bonnet vents cost you much to get done?
KAMELEON

lol of course u will need a engineers certificate
u will be having a plus 4 fitment!
think about ti this way ure car came factory with 14's now ure putting on bloody heavy 18's doubling even trippling the weight but the main problem is that the car wasn't designed to take such a load or large size rim
i asume unless u run very very fucking low profiles u will be increasing the overall diameter also putting ure speedo out
the engineer will have to drive ure car to see if it still passes adr(australian design rules)therefore roadworthying the c ar
they check out the manner in whihc modifications are performed and also the perfromance of such mods
u have no chance if u rock up in something like a torry with drum brakes all round and a 600hp small block between the rails lol
also its expenisive so make sure ure "done" miodifying before u take it to him/her

Subtlety is what does the trick for me... nice, unpretentious mags; clean paintjob; tinted windows; maybe a custom grille that you knocked up in your garage; some interior bits like a knob and pedals; tidy sound system - not all bass; and most importantly... frequent car washing and vacuuming!!

get john and the boys to get the metal mallet out and knock the struts up...They wont charge u any extra... An seeing as tho u live in canberra take the front plastic inner guards out b4 u drive to Sydney and see if u can source a pair of wheel spacers in 4x100...
Yes u will need an engineers certificate for them to be legal, but thats up to the cops discretion to book u....Suspension height the minium clearance anywhere on ur car is 10cm. below that = illegal

I think a tight car would be a skyline-styled Exa, get a bodykit of ur choice, a boxier one though, like lebsta's(jetspeed), not like lenny's(suzuki swift). Save the stock spoiler and replace it with a touring wing, custom mould some skyline taillights, and do a suttle yet shiny paintjob with some light graphix. I also think going to an RB series engine would be awesome, the rb20det, rb25, or even the rb25dett if u've got a big budget. Or stick with the exa style, stick with a CA series engine, try a AWD or RWD conversion (score big points), do a custom body kit, and a nice interior with a big stereo. Or go change the exa, pic a big round bodykit, a SR20det, VG30DETT, or something crazy like that, and custom moulded eurotails, and a bunch of non-exa style things.

lol no offence but u aint gonna fit any of the rb series engines in an exa, have u seen the size of an exa engine bay lately? as far as i kno the rb series engines r inline 6's? i think, which wouldn fit, and there is no way in hell ull fit the rb25dett, that barely fits in a 200sx letta lone a small exa, i aint having a go at u i just dont wanna see everyones hopes up so high, lol it would be a dream if it could fi tho...
anyway sexa, lol i like ur name, ur doin exactly wot i wanna do, but an exa up to autosalon spec, i love most of them at the salon, aggressive, but u have to keep in mind the word "unique", the autosalon is all about one of a kind cars....i would love to see ur exa now as it is, a few of it getting built up, and the final product, my email is mr_cvc@hotmail.com , id love to chat about wot ur gonna do to it etc...

Yah, the RB20DET fits, I don't know of the RB25DETT, or the VG30DETT, but I'm talking really extreme, like squishing it in there, or making something bigger or something, there must be a way.

All i have to say, If theres a will theres a way.... There has to be some way to do it!! We can manipulate the laws of physics to make things work ;)

thats exactly the reason i got the tail lights off chris's car, as soon as i get the cash i'm sending the lights away to be made in clear. and for the record i took them fair and square... maybe if u paid me the 150 u have owed me since janurary ,i might concider letting u have them... emphasise the word CONCIDER! u dont have an exa to put them on anyway ben? why would u want them? anyway i'm out, hopefully i'll be the first in brissie with clear tails, cya kids,

why would u bother putting an rb20det into an exa??
it will weigh it down heaps
and the SR20DET has more touque than it n e ways...and we all know the SR20DET huge potential
not to mention there have been like 5 SR20DET conversion done...so people know what they are doing
stop wastin ur time LoL

I just thought of something different, I don't have the cash anyways, but if I did I'd do the RB because nobody else has. Right now I'm looking at making the first supercharged EXA (as long as nobody else has). I'm either getting a supercharger from a MR2, or a ford thunderbird.
