Does anyone have any idea of how much i would be looking at to change my 1992 2 ltr NX from an automatic to a manual.....and if the pulsar gear box etc. would fit? ANY info on this would be much appreciated :blinknrol

The sr20 manual geaboxes gearboxes are all the same out of the pulsar / nx.

Im just not sure whether they all go together so well....... i havent even looked under the hood of a auto nx...........

ive seen a few of the autos getting round

It shouldnt be to hard to do all you will need is a sr20de fwd gearbox clutch and break pedals.
I think time would be the hardest

IIRC there were more autos produced than manuals (and ive seen more autos around too).

If you were going to do this, skip the normal box and get a vlsd box with pedals/driveshafts and whatever else you needed. Shouldnt cost too much more than changing to a normal box.

okay, i think u will find that the sr20de auto ecu will not run the car in manual form? not 100% sure! my s14 is auto unfortunately and from what i have heard is the auto ecu needs to be changed to a manual ecu! I'm not 100% sure on this though!

As for converting ur nx to manual, u'd need a g'box, brake pedal, clutch pedal, master cylinder and slave(if it uses a hydraulic clutch), if not u'll need the cable setup! Also u will need drive shafts i think???, even hubs if the splines are different but i doubt it! Also u will need the gear stick, the interior bits to suit the gear stick, and all the mounting brackets and bars fpr the gear stick! Plus a decent clutch

Plus u will need holes drilled into the firewall if the auto does not have them! I'm doing this conversion in an s13 for a mate with a ca however and i think we will need holes cut, isn't too hard!

I really think it'll end up being a huge job! If the ecu will work for a manual, than u will be lookin at a minimum of 1200 in parts with clutch, i'd charge 500 in labour i think for a job like that as i think it would be easier just to pop the motor out to put the box in! Its actually a really big job! I would think buying a new b13 would be easier! I think a silvia fro auto to manual would be easier! Suprising

You can either swap the ECU or fool the car into thinking it's in neutral.

The problem is with S14's and stuff that the gearbox has electronics and that connected to it that tell the ECU which gear it's in. Hence the auto will not start unless it's in Park or Neutral. I know somebody that fooled the ECU into thinking it was in neutral so you could start it, but something else was wrong and I forget what. (Probably ECU believing in neutral couldn't map for being in gear?)

I have all the wiring details to make the auto ecu start with a manual. The auto ecu generally has more torque than the manual one too.
go to www.antrx.com
there is a faq on changing a u12 sr20 from auto to manual and most of the parts needed. I did it in my shed and havent put the full list of parts needed, but if you want to know more i can put up the exact list.

sr20de boxes are cable, so that is easy to do.
the part number is RS5F32 there is also 32A which is the same i think, and 32V which is vlsd
