I have an '88 with TBI and i just put a K & N on it couple days ago. I noticed a difference in power. it only cost me $35 (us). i thought it was worth it.

if you have the 87 1600 (1598cc), the motor in question is the ca16de....

This motor isn't carburettored, it has EFI...
An Air Pod can be done, but it is quite fiddly... I'm not 100% sure how to do it, but i believe you need to remove the air box, and some of the emissions equipment needs to be altered.

In a nutshell, it is much easier just leaving the box there, and using a K&N Filter or something.... The pod on a stock ca16de or ca18de doesn't give much power anyway, because nissan's standard filter tends to do the job rather well....

Moving this to "More Speed" as you'll get a national wide response there, and there'll be more chance of people helping you...

did any exas ever actually come out carby? i've seen older pulsars like 86 carby but never an exa? cause i thought cause of the whole turbo concept all the N12s would be efi and i cant see why after the N12 being efi they'd revert an N13 to carby?

am i wrong or are there actually carby exas out there?

some one correct me if im wrong, but i read that if the engine code ends with the e (ca16de,ca18de(t),e15et,) it meant the car was carborated, and if teh engine code ended with the i (ga16i,e16i) it ment the engine was throttle body,? im not sure if im right though

Hey, ive got an 87 EXA ca16de and want to install a K&N pod filter but not to sure how to go about it. I tried to just unbolt the standard air filter and bolt in the K&N but there were other things attatched to it and i didnt really want to mess around with them. Any advice? Is it even worth while doing it?

if you wanna do it simply, then yer you can just take out the old air filter and air box and clamp it on the hose. other stuff around it might be stuff like the Air Flow Meter and Idle Controls and stuff. but if you just use the end of the pipe where the air box flowed into you should be right.

other options include a Cold Air Intake to get your engine cooler air which is much preferable to just sucking in the hot engine bay air...
