Hey people just thought I'd let you guys know that I have installed a set of CA16DE cams in my DET, they're in and running! (Props goin out to my man Sam aka "Boostinhard").

I had my timing adjusted and it absolutely hauls now, having the EMS computer re-dynoed next Thursday, and I'll be doin a power run on the dyno too, hoping to crack 200fwhp, after this, it's straight out to willowbank to see how she goes, hoping to dip into the 14's this time, it feels sooooooo much faster than when I last took it out there (ran a 15.600 last time, pathetic I know),

Thats's my story.

finally!
i've been waiting for someone to do this..

tell us how it went in the dyno

i'm in the process of examining 2JZ-GE cams to see if they will fit in my 1JZ-GTE (only the stroke is longer, not sure about the head and valve pattern)

Hey exa18, what other mods needed to be done other than adjusting the timing?

Yeah, what drudedon said (adjustable cam gears), and if you're talkin HKS, forget it, they'll probably be like $800 or some shit like that. (Not dissing HKS, just their pricing, my pockets aren't deep enough)

It's goin on the dyno for a re-tune Thurs, cant wait to see how it goes, will get a printout and scan it and chuck it on the net.

By the way people, CAN ANYONE HELP ME GET AN LSD GEARBOX AND DRIVESHAFTS TO SUIT A FWD CA18DET? PLEASE????????????? Traction just wont be happening very soon.

Hey exa18 man, i think the reason you're car seems alot faster was cause maybe the tang on the exhaust cam was stuffed???? My car had the same prob, so i put in a set of ca16 cams, it really doesn't do too much, the cams give an estimate 4hp tconsistenly over the rev range. Nuffin major. BTW i got bigg plans for the old girl, check my post out...

I know JUN makes cam gears but i supose the prices are as high if not higher than HKSs :-/

but yea, it is a direct swap in there right?, i happen to have about 3 sets of ca16 cams layin around and a ca18det in my car hehhe

yeah, it's a direct swap..... bolt out, bolt in......

Ohhh, and akela, my timing was the reason my car was so slow, it was out by a F'ING LONG WAY!!!!!!!

Here's a dyno chart for you guys to show that there are some FWD CA18DET powered vehicles that do put out good numbers. The vehicle is a 1990 nissan sentra/sunny 4-dr:

How much boost? Does the second chart tell you? Is it 12 psi?

It was all done on stock boost (bleed valve completely shut, around 10psi though). I have a Turbosmart Single Stage Switchable Boost Controller now, so I can take it up to around 14-15psi if I want (pointless though, zero traction, much smoke)

Hey,
HUUUGE torque figures!!! Your setup is obviously got torque in mind... Must pull like a frieght train around 3700 onwards!!

Yeah man, pulls like a bitch now, cant wait for tomorrow night, I've lined up an old school MR2 with a 4AGZE in it for a run, we'll see how we go....... (I'm fairly confident)
