hey all. well i've finally got my exa back, after ages and ages and so much frustration over bloody coilpacks and power transistor. anyway thats all good now..

but a problem i'm still having is with the idle.. there is no control over the idle speed (adjusting the idle screw doesn't make a difference)... and plus when the engine is cold, it idles at about 500, and stalls if i rev a bit then back off...

i've checked the TPS - its adjusted with the multimeter so its all good, what i'm thinking is that maybe the ecu isn't detecting this (faulty wiring). this would mean that it would never think the engine is in idle mode.. therefore allowing no idle control.

um anyway i'll get to the point now.. :hitwall: hehehe.. i read on a post once that in the ecu mode 2, the red ecu LED comes on and off depending on the tps... IS THIS TRUE, can someone confirm this? because mine doesnt do that..

THANKS EVERYONE!!

no thats not true!!!

Ok first check all your vac lines!

Then all the ecu connectors!

It may be that one of your valves is sticking and/or a solenoid is dead!

Get hold of some intake cleaner and use that to clean all the AAC, ARV and AIV valves!

Get back to me after that! I'd say for sure that its the AIV (thats on the right hand side [looking from front of car] of the throttle body). It'll be all blocked up or something! Either that or you have an air leak after your MAF

hmm ok thanks for clearing that up.. lots of work for me to clean all that.. i'll put it on my to-do for the weekend :)

thanks!

ok well i was wondering, where is the suction SOURCE for the vacuum system? because i've got the vacuum lines connected but theres no suction happening..?!

is the vacuum pulled from the connector underneath the air intake where it connects onto the manifold? (devilsexa, i'm talkin about the connector u told me about b4.. remember i had it on the wrong one, and now i've got it connected to the correct one..)

i'm guessing that having no vacuum system is probably causing all my probs..

thanks 4 the help!

The vacuum system connects to the intake air just after the air flow meter. There is a little connector pointing down which supplys the pressure to the vacuum lines and solenoids.

not true! But i dont ave time to argue right now! I'll explain later!!!

Just off to buy all my new vac lines now!
