KYB's! Gr-2 Gas Shocks!
Look in the catalogue section for part numbers, stay away from munroe's, and i haven't heard too many good things about pedders shocks either!

Koni Sports are a fairly hard strut, so if u wanted to go Koni (they are a very good strut in my opinion... through personal experience) and the car is only used for the street and occaisonally pushed harder - then Koni Street would suit you. They are still adjustable, but over a softer range.
My suggestion from what you first said is also KYB Gas, although I haven't personally used them - I did consider them before I settled on my Koni's and heard nothing but good things about them. Their design is good and are about midrange in price between cheapies (ie. Monroe) and the top end (Koni + other imports).

The guy asked for average, no super duper shocks for spirited driving.
There is Pedders which would be alright, yet many people have bad things to say about them after a little while.
Then there is the Monroe GT Gas which starts to raise the price, but are a very good shock for what they are priced at.
Then KYB. But as already mentioned, they only do the front, so your going to have to go a different brand at the back, and I'm not the kind of bloke that mixes and matches his suspension as I value my life.
KONI STREET and SPORT gets to the pricy end of things - more harsher and suited for spirited and demanding drivers..
I've got KONI Sports going in my car on Monday - and I can't wait to get rid of that crappy bouncing feeling and have that bone jar back :D

The KYB GR2 is good OEM replacement. If your thinking of using aftermarket springs, dont get the GR2's. The KYB AGX is more suited for higher spring rate and it is adjustable to set it to your preferences.

Unfortunately the AGX was unavailable in Australia 4 months ago.... perhaps this has changed since then however.

From memory it's longer than 4 months ago, I was looking at them since last year :D

Yah I meant they were still unavailable in Australia - however this is an NX thread and I was quoting about the Exa. The AGX were available for other vehicles, possibly the NX but I know for the Exa they wanted us to import a thousand of each, so you can guess our response to them :p
Because of this, I settled on Koni Sport instead and have been nothing but impressed :) so no complaints with them, however for those who want Koni and won't be pushing the car on the track occaisonally, I'd go with the Koni Streets (Red) that DIDZ mentioned.

One question - do you have low profile tyres??? I think this changes the answer quite a bit because if you're after "smooth ride" with low profile...
I have Monroe GT and they are awesome - although it is a hard ride due to only having a gap of 4cm between wheel and road ;) I would imagine they would feel really good on a normal wheel...
Ring Repco and ask what their trade prices are... I can't remember how much mine were off the top of my head but I got a big discount thanks to connection...
Good luck
