Who's up for Team Snow Trip

Got a proposition for you lot (not that type).

Anybody interested in a weeklong cruise to a large ski lodge in Jindabine some time late July, August or early September?

I know Keyroo is down for this (it’s not NZ man but it’s not winter if we’re not boarding together), just wondering if anyone else is interested. If I can get the numbers I’ll try booking (we’ve got a time share and I’m not sure when it’s ours) and we’ll take it from there.

Approx prices for accommodation are anything from $10 to $50 a night, depending on how many ppl we can get (the more, the cheaper). Board Hire (or Ski’s if you must) is anything between $30 - $150 a day, depending on what sort of equipment you want. Self catering, so I’ll probably organise ppl to bring a meal (or two) each to keep costs down. Lift tix are between $60 and $85 a day, depending on the resort and the time of season.

Anything else? I don’t think so.

Anyway, post if you’re interested and we’ll see where it goes.

Yeah, I was looking at my board yesterday thinking she needed some attention. The rails are looking a little sad, I remember cutting my finger on it when I first got it. Bit blunt now. Sure thing come over and we'll get them set for winter.

If you've got any P-Tex left I'll grab a bit for that gouge from Falls last year. And I will second one of your points. No touchie my board.

However, if you help me build a kicker on the side of the run, I'll give you basic lessons on the board (I can ski too but I'm not wasting a day on two planks). Still would recommend a proper lesson if you decide to go lesson. Matty and I are both self taught and I think thats the better way to go, but that is just my own opinion so do what you want.


Ok, between you guys and some others I've invited, this looks like its a goer. I'll get in touch with the others some time this week and try and set a date for this. It will probably end up being a drive up wed night, through to sat night, come home sunday. Can ppl post there preferred dates please?

I'm going to try steering away from the hols if I can avoid it Benny. The slopes are to crowded with all the families and people get pissed when you knock their kids over doing 80ks. LOL Matty, do you remember that little shit on the board at Falls the year we were together that took us both out and we got in trouble from his mother (skiier) for getting in his way. Actually that might have been Ben now that I think about it. Never mind.

Um yeah, chains on the Exa's are fine, they don't do any damage as long as you don't hammer it. Chains will cost you about $80 for the weekend with a $100 dollar deposit, but we might be able to pull a dodgy and borrow some.

Anyway, the beauty of Jindbine is that its at the bottom of the mountain. Cars stay free of snow and we catch the bus. Keeps everyone happy, plus it means we aren't restricted to only one resort. Will post details later.

It's at the base of Perisher, Blue Cow, and several others most of you will never heard of. We'll probably just catch the bus up to our mountain of choice each morning, which means no one has to worry about if their car will make it up the mountain or where to get a set of chains from.

Perisher/Blue Cow I've been to about 4 or 5 times, it rocks... it's mega huge, and takes a week to ski it all properly... :)
Never been to thredbo, looks like their runs kick arse, but the no snow down the bottom bit has always put me off...

I'm up for this for sure, might even be able to drag a friend or two with me...
When you've got some dates set, I'll get that week or so off...

Ok, quick update. Unfortunately it’s looking increasingly like we will be unable to get the House at Jindabyne. However, before you all start stressing out, I do have an alternate solution.

Due to numerous family holidays and friends in Bright I MAY be able to get a house there for us. Are people happy with this also? This gives us access to Falls Creek, which is mine and Matty’s home mountain, Mt. Hotham, also a good one, Mt. Buffalo, for cross country skiing and various others. Bright itself is probably one of the best places you could stay aside from on the mountain. I love that town so much.

Anyway, this changes the pricing structure a little. These prices are based on 10 ppl, though we will almost definitely have more than that, and are based on if we stay a whole week there.

Accommodation: approx $80 for the week. (This is about half of what they charge per night per person most other places)

Board (or Ski) Hire: about $120 for the week (ski’s are slightly cheaper, cause they’re crappier)

Food: Everyone will be asked to bring one dinner and snack and lunch foods to share.

Lift Tickets: $78 for an adult, $66 for a student. Those prices are per day, but if you buy 3,4,5,6 day passes, it works out quite a bit cheaper. You don’t have to ride everyday, and for those of you who are beginners, there are passes that allow you to used the beginner runs only that are heaps cheaper too. I would recommend that option for at least the first few days.

Petrol: Bright is about 4 hours closer than Jindabyne so that isn’t really an issue. It’s at the bottom of the slope in a good area so you can feel comfortable driving up there and leaving your car at the house while we are out on the mountain.

Bus: The bus up to the snow will probably be about $10 per day, but don’t quote me on that cause I’ve always either stayed in the mountain or driven up each day.

Ok, that’s the basics. All up is works out to about $650 for an adult, give or take $100, about $540 for a student, also give or take $100. That is based on riding for 6 days, which is where most of the cost comes from, we only ride 4 or 5 days, so it would end up cheaper that way.

Right. Moment of truth. I need yes or no’s and I need them soon. It will be for a week in august, can’t confirm which one until I have a deposit. Speaking of deposit, I will need $100 by the end of next week, so I can get the deposit on the house. Any questions, call me. You all know my number. Other wise I want a quick yes or no.
