A guy at work is selling a Pioneer 4650 head unit... I'm just after a simple MP3 head for a little while until I put some good money into the stereo in 6 months or so. Anyone have any thoughts about them? Cheers in advance,

Only an amp for the sub... and right now I'm back to no sub (long story). Its a mono block so I'll just be running the front & rears off the head for the time being as well. Nothing wrong with my current head unit, I just want MP3 pretty badly.

Not sure of the difference, and I can't check pioneer's site while I'm at work :( It does come with remote tho, the best I could find about it is basic specs and a pic of it through images.google.com.au :p

Thanks for your PM again Fubar... i was wondering what people thought of them, but having found the info you also sent me, I think it'd be a great stand-in head unit that supports MP3 to use for a while. Thanks to Dilbee & SirCat as well :)

i really like em, personally ive got a 7550, but i work at autobarn and recomend the 4650 with every system i put toghether, its a great mid range unit without spending a heap, saying that tho it doesnt have sub control, at my autobarn we got pioneer 5650's for about the same as full retail of the 4650's and if you had the money id go for something like that, spend a little extra now and it saves fucking around later on.

Cheers :)
Ended up grabbing it (2nd hand...) for a fairly good price & i'm yet to put it in (tonight or tomorrow) but it should be great. Its only a temporary thing for the next 6 months until I buy something new... so only a pair of preouts will be okay for the time being.
