The other night I used the auto button to I wind down my driver’s side window and then I tried to use the same button a few seconds later to wind it back up. I heard a weird noise from the window and the window stopped after going up about two inches. Since then the window goes down fine but does not want to come back up. I can only get it back up by pulling the window up into place while the window is meant to be winding up. I can still hear the motor winding after the window has stopped moving.

I’ve tried to loosen the nuts around the motor as suggested by xad_00d in this thread: NXR power window stuck up (http://forum.nissanexa.com/showthread.php?t=9232)

I searched a few forums but they seem to have different answers. Is the motor or the regulator actually stuffed, or does it just need adjusting?

my window is exactly the same. i took it to an auto elec and he said most likely the regulator is fucked coz he could still hear my motor going. he qouted me $240 for the part plus installation. what a rip. i have been just pulling mine back up for now till i have the cash. but i think i have fucked my motor aswell coz now i cant hear that anymore. i pulled my door apart and couldnt figure it out so if u have any luck on finding out what it is i would like to know

Geez I'm happy I don't have electric windows!!!! Go the NXs!!!

I have absolutely no idea about this but I'll ask my dad :) If you can figure out which part it is then that's better coz obviously can then get it from a wreckers or something and have it installed.

Is it possible the winding mechanism has come off the thread? therefore the motor still runs to keep turning but it's off the thread so window doesn't actually move?? hmmm just guessing, sorry. Go to a couple of electricians maybe and get them to think about it and give you a hypothesis... good luck

Hey champ.

Maybe the electronics has shitted itself?
Check the current coming from the plugs that insert to the door trim.
If your lucky (!!!) maybe the wire that makes the window go up has loosened itself.

Yeh but what's the point of having "fast glass" if it's not fast.. in fact - if it doesn't even move... and you have to pull it up yourself...
HA HA HA HA HA HA ** please note this is not directed at you Woodyboy - just fahootie who seems to think he's "so advanced" **

BTW it's a good arm workout!

I'm beginning to wish I had those primitive manual window winders. A wrecker told me most places will sell the motor and regulator together for $140. I guess that's not too bad... I was expecting more. I'd hate to see the price of getting them new from Nissan though :arghhhhh:

I'll have another look at it tonight when I get home from work.

I didn't say advanced....and you're right, mine is 'slow glass'

I managed to pull out the motor and regulator the other night. I opened up the motor and checked all the cogs and they seemed to be fine. I did find some black sealant from the motor housing had made its way into the cogs inside the motor. I've cleaned it all out with a high-pressure air hose and put it back together but it's still screwed. I'm a little pissed now because I've managed to scratch the tint on the window and snapped off the wires to the door speaker and have to re-solder it.

I'll have another look over the weekend and may see if just replacing the motor will solve the problem.

I know a guy who has just solved this problem in his celica Gt4, I told him it was his bushes in his motor as this was what happened to my brothers nxr in the for sale section, anyway it turned out it was the spring in the switch had snapped and made the window stay down.

My brothers window could be used sometimes, when it worked it was just really slow

I phoned up a Nissan Dealer and they said it was $643.50 for a new power window motor for the NX (just about how much I thought they would be through them).

I paid $220 plus $15 for overnight postage for a new motor with a 12 month warranty from a place called Electric Life in Melbourne (03 9383 3511). It was going to cost $175 for a second hand motor and regulator from a wrecker and that was very hard to find.

I’ll put the motor in over the weekend - hopefully this will fix it.
