You could have a simple 'chip' plugin done for around $300 - 400. Makers like PowerChip, UniChip (one of the better ones) etc. will swap your air/fuel/timing maps to another generic one which generally gives better performance on most cars. This is very different from an ECU swap or custom program which will cost around a grand onwards. You may be able to purchase or have someone like Lumpy (checkout his drift division page for info on these - www.driftdivision.com) write you a custom EPROM to socket into your ECU.

MAn if u are seriously thinking of turboing your car, why bother modding your NA engine? Just save your money for the conversion. If you are planning to stay NA the id sujest doing cam work, porting, putting on RWD CA injection manifold for more HP. Chipping is okay i guess but custom engine mangment is always so much more worth the money cause u can always tweak your car for more mods.

UniChip don't list anything for the CA18DE(T), but ChipTorque also list one (also for the N12 Exa Turbo). JMS also sold an asian brand of ECU 'upgrade' which sounded like it had the most potential out of the bunch! Contact them for more info cause i cant find it on their website anymore.
