How do u get rid of that pipe that connects to the air box that is alongside the battery?
ive noticed that its connected to something that goes underneath into the wheel arc like this big black box thing. (see image)
i opened the wheel arc cover (but didnt remove it completely) to see what it was like under there but didnt get anywhere.

Yeah mate, you just yank that shit up outta there.
Its like a little lip, so it takes a little bit of slap and tickle, but it will come out. Its comes apart at the join, like in your illustration. If your removing the top section, there isnt much point having the bottom section.....
I have removed the whole lot from my car too.
Good luck with it.

wouldnt that lip thing be glued on? or is it just pushed on tightly?

nah the little box in the wheel arch is just a silencer for the intake the pipe u just rip out and then the box is held in with two bolts that u can get to from underneath. if u'r going to take the pipe and the silencer out i sugest u take out the air box and get rid of the piece of metle that the pipe was joind to, it's just held in by three rivets, makes a big difference.
cheers rob.

What are the benifits of removing the pipe and box when you have a pod filter?
They're still in my car but I want to remove them and relocate the battery so I can make a custom induction.

i removed the pipe today, but left the silencer box in place for now
its mad, when i floor it, it sounds bassy, which is all good
:fingers: silencer
benjamin3000: i removed it is because the size of the pipe looked restricting, so if u have it on a cold air intake then i guess that would also restrict the air flow on that

hey guys... reviving an old thread hehe. Just did some searching on induction... I too removed this pipe and left the silencer in. Sounds so much better. Im now looking at getting an induction pipe... however the one problem is that I dont know where to poke it out at the front. There doesnt seem to be much room. Can anyone with a CAI post some pics?

Yeah pics would be good lads,
i removed the box 'n' whatnot when i put the poddy on but i left the pipes coming out from the chassis on, presuming these are for airflow?!? Hard to tell...

i just put a k&n panel in to the stock airbox.
removed the snorkel behind the headlight and also the resonator box.
then ran a pipe down to where the resonator box was and now its just behind
my front kit where its nice and cool.
here are some pics the rubber tubing is 3" u can get it from supercheap for $30 a
metre which is plenty.

when i did my cai and pod, i bought a 3inch diam pipe from supercheap ($30) ripped out all the box, ran the pipe straight from the afm, around the battery and down into a nice sized void behind the radiator and mounted my pod there with some backyard work. Pretty easy, hardest thing to do is make sure the pod isn't going to fall off. Definetly recommend it, simple way to get more responsive, power gain and good sounds too - somehow gives of a nice deep intake sound, might be from the echoing in that void. Removed the plastic guard ("splash pan" or whatever it's called) too to get more cold air flow.
Can get pics if you really need

Ok thanks guys... I have left my stock box on and I wanna get a better filter for it. Then I just want to run piping from my box around my battery and poke it out the front somehow.

ACtually making a hole next to that wheel with a stock box would be a hella cool idea
And yeah i'm not one for doin burnouts, not with $150 tires a pop
But yeah if ya ever wanted a 1/4 time u'd wanna do that, then you'd choke...
