Intake tube removal causing popping

I just took out the little tube that goes to the intake box and now when i rev up past 6000 and let go of the gas, the exhaust makes popping sounds, it sounds really cool, but what kind of damage could i be causing? I have a leak in my exhaust manifold, could it be cause of that, or is that sound something everyone has and i shouldnt worry about it?

your exhaust manifold leak would cause the popping sound, only thing removing that pipe does is feed hot air to your intake instead of the cooler air in your guard :)

either stick it back on or get some proper piping running from the front bumper up to the airbox, or better still, a pod filter :)
