View Full Version : Moderator Bullshit

Just like to express how greatful i am for the double standard on the club, isent it nice to know moderators are alowed to persue personal grudges on the forums without fear of reprisal while ordanary members are threatned/baned
This isent my site so its not my place to dictate policy but can it be made clear in writing:
1 Set Of Rules For All
or
1 Set For Mods And 1 Set For Regular Users
Question im really asking is WHO POLICES THE POLICE?
because if the people in place to moderate the boards are causing the problems, then how can the system function?
Not that anyone gives a shit but i feel i should post this so when i retaliate i can refur back to this post where i brought it to the attention of everyone

Im sure most of us are familiar with this dilemma...... But what can we do......
Sp3ctre
8th January 2005, 05:24 AM
Vote, plain and simple
we vote in moderators and only keep them for say 6 months and then vote in new ones so we dont get this high and mighty syndrome thats plauging us

We try not to have double standards... if you spot any misbehavior by a moderator, let me know!

Really a mods duty should be to lead by example not encourage, fire up, THEN ban.....but hey such is life..Could it just be Tall poppy syndrome Andrew....lol ;)

I think less importance should be put on the mods, given the bullshit thats happened in these forums recently, and the obvious lack of maturity of a lot of members. I have to say that the nissanexa forums has VERY bad name from everything ive heard, with comments like "they are all idiots" or "kids" etc. I'm not talking about the lack of knowledge of members, I mea, that's what we are here for, to help everyone else out. But for the continuous shit that occurs. Baiting and flaming happens all too often in here, and it should stop.
I don't know why we cant all get along. Respect the fact that other people might take your jokes in a way other than intended. Stop joking so much and be a little more mature about the whole thing. I don't mean stop having fun, but just THINK before you go replying to anything.
I frequent these forums less and less these days. And with threads like that which exacustive made... I don't know fully what its all about and I'm not getting into it, but I certainly think its pretty poor that he felt he had to make a thread such as that. Obviously there are people who feel targeted, for cryin out loud. Just lay off. Make the forums a good place for people to be on the net.

less importance should be put on mods? why have them then?
Mods are there for a reason, to set an example. Regular members posting shit on the fourms, our reputation and alike have nothing todo with the topic, what you just posted jase was a 3 paragraph speech that was totally off topic.
i honestly think its time we replace some mods (95% of them are great and dont cause issues), i think a vote should be set up, and we vote out some and vote in new ones.

i think its hard for us not to have a reputation as kids. with a few exceptions, a lot of the members are under 20.
The reason? unlike the older people that have good jobs and the cash to spend on skylines at teh later stage of life, the majority of us is our first car under $6000 so of course we are going to be young people that are going thru all those emotions that young people do, and learning all the lessons that the members of other "more expensive" forums may have already learnt.
I know too many people on here have an attitude and its more about how many friends they have, or how good their car is that gives them their sense of status on the forums.
Compare "for example, dont be offended" Spectre or RASCALm to say The Professor or AndrewR and you will see how age and maturity really sets in and makes these people a lot easier to get along with on forums.
The former both have modified EXAs and I would say are fairly active in and out of the forums and whilst both are good members, can tend to get in a few fights.
The latter have fairly stock exas, and dont really participate too much in the social side of things, but yet we find they are extremely helpful, knowledgable and friendly people.
Im not saying that either of these are bad, im just saying that demographically we are a more immature club than skyline or other forums and that is naturally going to show in our forum conversations.
I think with some more mature behaviour by some mods, and a bit more of a watchful eye by everyone in regards to reporting bad behaviour then we should have a good and pleasant forums.
In the end, our time here is what WE make of it, because unlike a website with regular edited content, this is a forum, where the whole site is decided by what we say so lets remember that when we post up something aye?
And on another note, a lot of what goes on could be avoided if people just kept their comments to PM and MSN instead of posting up for everyone to see.

Sp3ctre, you are complaining that there is a double standard, that members cant say stuff wihtout fear of retribution, but mods can. What I'm saying, is the mods do their job well, and the bullshit in these forums is mostly caused by members, not mods. The mods were picked for a damned good reason, and I don't know anyone who would better do the job, than those who are already doing it. If the members would think a little more before they post flames, then the problem wouldnt be apparent.
As far as exagps comments go: I agree, maybe the mods should be super strict on the way people relate to others in here.... but that might not leave us with much. It would certainly be the case that if temporary bans for flamers (in the event it cannot be solved QUICKLY on msn or pm) were introduced, the flaming wouldn't last long
I get the feeling that a lot of people, or at least those I talk to, feel the same way about this forum. It's blunt and to the point, and if the mods dont like it they can delete it.
!!!GROW UP!!!

im not saying that mods should be super strict. what i mean is that maybe people should be more active in reporting threads/posts to mods.
If we said half the stuff at work or school that we say on here, lets just say wed be going nowhere. i think that sums up what needs to happen here.

might be worth a try... maybe only members that have been signed up for 6 mths can vote ?

i agree with blood. you cant have ever chop that just rocks up to vote. must be ppl who frequent the boards and not have a preference. i also think mods should be chosen on skills they have as in the past ppl have been placed in technical moderating positions and dont knwo what theyre talking about.

meh, maybe change the mods, but every 6 six months is a bit, 'let everyone have a go', also a new mod will want to mod a lot at the start before the noviety wears off.
easier to just leave it, this place has no more problems than anywhere else.

yeah I have no problems at all with who the mods are/what they do and it seems to me the only ones who do are the ones who cause trouble in the first place. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you have really been hard done by why dont u just pm gpexa and it will b sorted out no need to start a thread about it.

it's easy spectre, we are mods, we do whatever the fuck we want (Well one or 2 of us) But god=warren.
He overrulled the descision by most of the bitches to keep seggy and caily banned, hence why you where unbanned. So all in all final descision is his and I gotta admit by what i've seen warren isn't a guy to make unfair descisions but rather revoke other peoples. Lets put our hands together for warren, hes the uber mod who keeps this wacky place in one piece and miss exa on her leash (Joke) ... yay

from personal experience i can see where specter is comming from
but i do think warren does a good job of policing the police
few mods have it in for me, but at the end of the day its just words, no matter how pissed off i can be, i know myself who is a better person and that warren listens and understands
i also think blood has an excelent idea in post #15. after all its worth a shot?
and uncle trav makes a good post in #16
ohh but one thing, i dont see a point in removing mods who are doing a great job

i dont think specter wonts to have moderator status at all, i think i speak for everyone with similar veiws when we ask for moderators who do not abuse their powers, and are well regarded throughout the states. in the technical sections obviously someone who has a solid understandingof what they are talking about. To me that comment is the best deffence u can think of to keep ur moderating status. how many people have you banned by the way?

Im not shure why I ever bother to read posts like this. I do sit at work and use the nissanexa.com as a testing web site. Im on here about 30 times in 8 hours 5 days a week. I see pretty much all the changes the mods do. Believe me there hard at work. I dont know if I could refrain and not say anything with some of the posts I see. I could also understand why some of the mods would have grudges with members for posting pure rubbish and waste of server space. Sometimes its like seeing someone take a bite out of a 12 inch sub and throw it away. The waste of space for profain language and putting pepole down is growing with the club. This club has grown by leaps and bounds since Ive started looking at the "forums" if you could even call them that compared to now. I know its alot of work to take care of the site. I comend them with what there doing. If I didnt like it I would just leave. They are on a higher platform then members. They do have a power that just normal forum members dont. I think if you tell there "daddy" warren if there is an issue he will address it. If you dont like the way he deals with that to bad. Go spend thousands of dollars and hundreds(thousands) of hours of your own time and make something of your own that you can police. There has been few issues with the mods in the past. There was an election in the past for the slot that opened up. How often do you elect your president or what ever there in austrailia? Over here in the states we have elections every 4 YEARS. These are the leaders of our country. These are "just" mods of our beloved site. Keep up the good work guys and gals.

This thread is testament to all the random infighting that's going on. We're a car club, not a soap opera. Revoting mods in every 6 months just becomes a popularity contest.

For example? I don't mod a technical section but the guys that do know quite a bit.. and if there are other members out there who know more what's stopping them from adding in their input? Do they need mod status to post? Nope. I've said it before and I've said it again, if you can do a better job then go start your own forum. :hilarious

You honestly have no idea.. it's so clear to me that being a mod is like some life-term goal for you. Trust me, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Being a mod on these forums has turned from being a hobby to something that's more like a chore.. (i.e. hard work that someone has to do). If you were around these forums 5-6 years ago you'd know what I mean.. it's only in the past year or so that there have been issues. Issues started by people with nothing better to do than pick on the boards and run and cry when their views aren't shared by others. Before all this Days of Our Lives crap started I was one of the most quiet of mods.. you wouldn't even have known that I modded.. if there was a Ninja Stealth Mod it was me.. but like other mods, there was only so much we could tolerate. You might not like how some of us do our job, but sometimes it's the only way.

Well, what a thread.....
I havent been on these forums long, and I mostly covered the Technical section till now, I think I have helped a little in alot of areas for N13's and until reacently never got into the more political and whatnot threads.
I have to say, there are alot of Childish antics in these threads. We are here to share views, and mostly of all talk about Exa's. Differences aside.
I see some of the work the mods do, but not all, and I have to say they seem to do a good Job. If there are problems anyone is facing with a given Mod then talk to GPexa about it. Dont start Anti Mod threads or be childish about it. This is a public forum, with people from all over the Globe and this bickering and bantering is unnecessary. Like some of the other guys said, if your not happy with what GPexa does with a given problem, spend the many man hours and money on creating your own exa forum and police that! I have a site or a few actually, www.go2shop.com.au and let me tell you, the upkeep is to the extreme. Its not a forum but product updates are a killer. And I am guessing that Moding a forum is very similar... many many hours go into policing the forums and a few hickups here and there with Mods is nothing compared to hours of shit they endure.
Keep up the good work Modders! Cause I'm happy posting....

Exacutive if you cant tell the difference between me raising valid points and you having your usual bitch and moan you have more problems than i first thought.
Like Seggy said, all id like is for someone to repromand mods that are doing the wrong thing and have some (not all) try to set a better example, because how can you tell other people to stay in line when the higher ups wont?

If you don't like how things are, then move on! If you're going to start another thread like this I can assure you that your access WILL be restricted. End of discussion.
