View Full Version : Buy/Sell and Re-funds any offical protocal here?

OK, I am little up set here, The Nissan EXa club, quite happliy has stringent rules and regulations, relating to the Buy/Sell Forum, and in effect facilitates a sale between members. Which it great until this system fails, unfortunally leaving the buyer up shit creek with no support, and more so favouritism towards friendships, rather than the problem at hand, and well in business realistically that would not be acceptable. So due to my own personal loss kindly thanks to a favoured member, I'm angry.
Although Nissanexa.com is not responsible for this sale nor the follow up, just wondering "how the hell is one to obtain a valid refund if phone number is changed, pm's are un-answered and your ignored"
There has to be some form of protection for the unsuspecting purchaser, whom would normally not deal with a member, if not facilitated via this club?
And if not, Why can't we voice our objections via the forum as a last resort, after all, if it wearn't for it in the first place I would be some $600 richer.
Just wondering?

I thought you said you were $300 out of pocket Danielle? Anyways... this is a public car forum, and the club itself can't and will never offer 'insurance' to someone who buys or sells on here. If you have a problem with someone in particular, then you should be contacting them, warren and/or small claims (gov) to settle it.
I don't know what kind of 'protection' you had in mind but there's bugger all the club can do about this kinda thing to be honest. It comes down to you being comfortable buying off the person who is selling, or don't give them your money.
So the bottom line is the club can't do bugger all, its not the club's fault & there are other ways to work these things out as I suggested before. Hopefully this will help, I lost $550 myself and small claims is helping me sort it out.

yeah ok Lonx $300 for stuff $150 for install and $150 for removal as didnt fit...despite assurance they did.....so all up $600? no?
And how does one launch a claim with a bogan fist name and nothing else? HUH, hence my question...any one else have amore "helpful" approach?
btw lonx wasnt your problem through e-bay??
Lonx
18th January 2005, 12:32 AM
Danielle, you hadn't mention the install and removal costs, but I would've thought $300 purchase of an item was all... any install & removal costs of whatever item it is would be the buyer's responsibility.
No, mine was through here, not eBay :) It was to do with a mint condition black Exa, but its being sorted like I said so there's no problem now. It took a little time but all is good.

maybe find what state they are in, and get a member to track them down ?
the person must still talk to someone in this club

As you've already mentioned, the site is just here to facilitate the sale.. that's all. It is up to the buyer to inspect the goods, find out who the seller is, make sure that everything is in order etc. If you don't know the member too well and don't feel comfortable dealing with them, don't. If the seller is in another state, try and ask someone you might know from the same state to help out with the transaction. Dealing with someone over the internet is no different to dealing with someone off the street.. there are always dodgey people about.
With that in mind though, we do try and help if and where we can. Just bear in mind that nissanexa.com is bound by privacy laws like any other site (i.e. Warren might not be able to hand over members' confidential information).
And also, remember to fill in the trader ratings.
Why can't we voice our objections via the forum as a last resort, after all, if it wearn't for it in the first place I would be some $600 richer.
Just wondering?
It sucks that you were ripped off, just don't go blaming the site for your misfortunes.

oh, i was thinking about a thread like this, and here it is.
sorry Lonx, but you continually post here about your problem with the money someone owes you, I cant hold back anymore publically stating what you also owe me and have owed me for going on 3 months.
I had no idea it was so difficult to send a couple of things in the post!
I just emailed GPExa on an idea starting a similar thread like this, then i saw this.
I know how you feel Danielle.
Shall we start a list of who owes who what? That will let others know who they may and may not want to deal with in future.

Moving this thread to a more suitable section..
Hot4s and a couple of other sites have closed down their buy/sell sections because they were more trouble than they were worth. If this is the case with our buy/sell section, we might eventually have to do the same thing or make some major changes to it.

No worries NIP007, as long as the thread stays.
Conveniently, the thread in SYdney/NSW has been locked.
Shall i say here instead then, yes, while the member in question may have had a good rep among others, he has stuffed up this time, so tough luck what his reputation is.
Just because everyone else thinks you do good things, when you do something bad other people are allowed to know about it, or is that not true? Do we have to preserve precious images and reputations around here?
I bet no one would think that you lonx owe me stuff like you do, you have a good reputation here too, like gab does.
So its only fair we post the good with the bad.
Sorry but thats the way it is.
Yeah, once again we know someone owes you $550. How about you pay your debts and karma might come around to you.
It seems me and danielle have been taken advantage of, and its probably no coincidence that we are both female.
I think some people on this forum need to take a seriously good look at themself.

I hate to sound harsh but thats the risk you take with buying something from the internet.
The club is in no way responsable for what has happend and there is no way anyone one should expect us to be.

In that case we will have to publically vilify people so others know who not to deal with.

public vilification is all good. Let the shit fly. I remember not that long ago someone didnt get a chance to buy a computer cause another well liked member bought it before the other member could pay the deposit after the sale terms were settled. THAT IS SOOOOO DODGY.......i cant remember who it is, but im sure they know who they are....... Hey if im doing business with someone, i would like to know that they are honest. I myself have only dealt with lowlight in terms of buying parts, and shes pretty cool and good with the goods. Also is it just me or are the ratings systems disappeared?

Why are we ALL publicly advertising hte bad marks against ppl names ?
Yes, if they truefully stuff up.. then yes, others should know, to protect them....but
ISNT THAT WHY THE TRADER RATING WAS ADDED ?

for the slow ones......
Trader Ratings are ONLY in Buy & Sell

look honestly.. not many ppl have had a problem with the person your on about.. but have you ever thought he may be willing to give your money back.. but currently hit a rough patch or something? ie not having the internet, needing a new number.. as we seen from a PREVIOUS POST IT APPEARS HE MAY BE BACK ONLINE.. SO PM, BUT DONT BE RUDE ABOUT IT, AOR AGGRESSIVE LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN..
I personally think thing thread should be closed. up to the mods though..

i think if the user trading rating is used more then maybe this type of event could be stopped if not reduced?

Newbie i appreciate your friendship with this ummmm person, however i informed him of problem many times and since, he has changed his number and was refusing to answer both my pm/s and my calls, this happened dec 15th give or take a day, and well he knew i was unhappy and the inferior product sold didnt fit, and he to also knows my damn number and till this date hasn't bothered with a reply.
Gab may be a friend to you, but my poor dealings with him have not indicated even an ounce of guilt nor the possibility of a refund, he can have the damn springs back....i just want my $300 back, and well this was my last resort, short of going insanly crazy and hurling them through his windows....;)

Ok. For all you peeps.
If for some silly reason you dont agree with the trader ratings you can leave a 'user message' on someones account by clicking on their name at the side of the thread and 'view profile' in view profile you'll see an option to "Post New User Note".

19th January 2005, 12:42 AM
Geez, I leave the site for a week and see what happens... lol
Seriously though... I got several emails over the last few days from many a different party regarding this type of thing. As much as I'm not a fan of dodgy selling, there's little we can do here to stop it. As mentioned, it's buyer beware....
If anyone has any differences through selling, it'd be great if it could be worked out, but if it can't, the buyer is in the same ballpark as buying stuff from classifieds... in other words, if the problem got that bad, maybe take it up with higher powers, and they can help. Unfortunately that normally isn't a great avenue, as they'll say "tough bickies, you bought it privately" or something along those lines...
We don't condone shit flinging between parties after something like this either, but that doesn't mean you have to hold back your thoughts... if you got ripped off by a seller, use the trader ratings function, and add a comment to say you weren't impressed or something similar...
I'm no expert in consumer protection, so don't go taking any of what I've said as gospel, but at the same rate, be very careful with what you buy over here, as we don't have all of the security that comes with buying from an online marketplace like eBay or similar....
I hate to see this kind of thing happen as much as you, but there's not a lot we can do to stop it, apart from take away the buy/sell section all together, which would be a tad disappointing...
drzexa
19th January 2005, 12:52 AM
well then maybe create 2 strikes and your out of the buy/sell forum all together, two bad dealings with members and voila instant dismisal, at least that then protects other members from falling future victim, there are some shonky mofo's out there and gracing these borads and quite frankly it needs to either be removed, or let miss exa start banning em from selling....because we all work hard for our cash and hate to see it fall into wrong hands. I can assure you after this experiance i will only sell what i really need to via this club and will NEVER purchase anything via it again.

the word 'soon' doesnt mean anything to me anymore.
I've pm'd you several times and i dont get anywhere.
I never said "i dont need it anymore". I said Im tired of waiting and having my car off the road whilst waiting for your "soon" to arrive, so Im getting the part from someone else, but I still am owed the part by you.
I never once said I dont want it. Its now been nearly 3 months,I am fascinated how you have not had a tiny percentage of your time to go to the post office for this.
Not to mention the mirrors as well.
oliver must have been one lucky boy to have you go out of your way 1.5 hrs each way to send off his wheels, but when it comes to paying back someone whos supposed to be a friend, well you just cant do that can you.
Im sorry brenden, I would hate to ruin a friendship over this, but the longer this goes on the more it just shows the disrespect towards me.
Please dont put it back on me saying I told you not to send it, because you know and i know, that is crap.
Note: Off topic here, but you might want to rethink your reconditioning of brake master cylinders.
I had a Nissan mechanic do one for me with $60 worth of seals (trade prices) and it didnt work. I then got someone else to look at it and had to add another $20 seal kit to that. All these people are friends so Im not being ripped off.
So Im not sure what you're doing with your $30 seal kit, but I can assure you thats not being done properly.
Lonx
19th January 2005, 05:05 PM
I won't bother replying to the rest because you just say its crap (no arguments then).
I've reconditioned my own clutch & brake cylinder, and calipers and after 40,000km I have had no problems at all. They work brilliantly. If you don't believe its doing it properly, no worries because thats your decision - but I wouldn't be putting something into your car to stop it if you don't trust it.
lowlight
19th January 2005, 09:13 PM
Im not going to put it in. I've got a perfectly good as new one in there now. Im just saying the thing has been thoroughly tested by a professional brake place, and $30 worth of seals is definitely not enough to bring it up to scratch.
Lonx
19th January 2005, 10:07 PM
Thats fine, different cylinders have different amounts of wear depending on how they were looked after. You're not talking about the master cylinder I have here & from the beginning I have told you it depends on the condition and I don't have the tools to check how much pressure it will hold either. All you can do is try when reconditioning second hand things - very worn cylinders will often need a bore & hone to smooth out the inner surface and use a slightly larger seal set to suit it.
A lot of members on here have reconditioned seals in their stuff & don't have problems... it just depends on the application.
Sorry to everyone else for going off topic,
lowlight
19th January 2005, 10:16 PM
I do have reconditioned seals in there... Im just saying I have $80 worth, whilst you seem to get by with $30 worth.
Its not an issue of price, its an issue of exactly how many are being replaced.
Anyway, back to the topic.

Its great to see again the mods are CHOOSING to again accept favouritism over anything else, because if they were seriously doing their job the ridiculous post in buy and sell would be locked as well, good for the goose, good for the gander....unless of course the gander is a friend of a mod eh LONX?

Danielle, from what I heard from another member... gab sorted this out with you last night & thats the end of it. Don't even bother trying to pull me into your problem. Glad you got it sorted anyhow.
btw - if you have a problem with mods, you know after being here for as long as you have - simply tell GP or Howie and if they agree then it will be dealt with. Nothing too hard about that,
