I was just thinking of ideas the other day and I though what if we could have an online Database/logbook.

Eg. When you buy your new car you enter the chasis number (as this will never change) and then you have an overview of a calander, everytime you service the car, buy something new for it mechanically, spray it, get new tyres etc. It is recorded.

I think that this would help with the value on our cars, and would be a great way for the each individual to see how much their beast is really costing them, would also be a great resell point.

Any ideas taken into account, and maybe we could chip in and get this developed and implemented? (i could speak to my web developer who made my website "www.gktech.com.au " and we could go from there.

IDEAS?

Cheers

Greg

I'm all for it bro!

I tried to design something similar for myself but just couldn't get it right!

Will need to have an 'access' feature so not just anyone can get in and security feature for each account.
So things like VIN plate numbers etc are not visable to everyone who views your log.

Also needs to be printable so when you sell it you can make a print out of it and hand it over like a logbook.

And in addition to the above feature when a car is sold and the new owner becomes a member of the club full details (history) is transferable to their account!

i thought about this, and suggested it
that way we can see which ones are "born" on the same day..
eg - my old Maroon Exa (now packy's) was 6 cars from Got_Exa's Maroon one (now Just_69_it)
They would have been made withing hte same 10 mins :)

- But
Was informed, it could be a bad idea, due to if ppl steal an exa, then they will already know what to change numbers too.. to make the stolen one "re-born"

i think after being told that, that it would be a bad idea, and so do the ones that told me.
it would be like.. go steal whoever's car.. and use a VIN number from the site..
too easy

You would just make it to the VIN numbers arent viewable to the general public, BUT if you had your information on the site then you just type the VIN number in as the user name type thing.

You wouldn't make a list of VIN numbers viewable to the public, but it could be searched via VIN numbers.. If you get me? lol

It would be more of a personal data base but could be searched through if you have the particular cars VIN number (and only info entered, and edited would be by the owner with the password details to the associated VIN number)

???

Ok yeh that is a point blood.

But in UK... if someone has a "Nissan Part Catalogue" they have ALL vins for ALL nissan registered in uk!

Im sorry but our lil database just wouldn't be too much of a worry!
And hey... if your worried DONT JOIN IN!!!

it'll encourage more ppl to bullshit about how well their car is apparently looked after and I wouldn't take notice of any of it. In my opinion u might as well just spend $5 or less and buy a real car log book or just make a bloody word file which would be just as 'official' when you think about it.

Exactly.. plus potential buyers will think 'Hey.. this guy's associated with NissanExa.com AND he has a logbook for his car online.. it MUST be legit'. In a perfect world it'd be a good idea, but no doubt someone will take advantage of it.
