Hey all.
i used to have a N13 and found it some what of a lemon, just wondering if the B13 has the same problems as the N13, if so or not, what are some regular problems that the B13 encounters?
As as a friend of mine is lookin to get one.
thx heaps

most problems have been killed off in the later models like the 94'.
Some things to look for are:
rust around the rear suspension
leaking targa seals
the boot's hydraulics doesn't hold the boot up

those are the only specifics I can htink of at the moment.

Also remember than a b13 is the same vintage as a n14 pulsar, not the n13, just incase you didnt know.

Let us know some of the things you experianced. Also yr model, how many k's etc. That will help.

I dont have a leaky roof, no rust.

My boot struts promptly poo'd em selves after I put my wing on, what was nissan thinking not taking into account a heavy ass aftermarket rice-wing....

But seriously, if the rear struts, a touch of rust and a leaky rubber seal was the only things wrong with it im sure Kickin would prob still have a b13 now.

Am i right?

nah, that was the least of my worries...
went through 2 clutchs, kept replacing old/aged rubber hoses, coil packs, rear suspension seased (not that i was complaining about that) roof leaked, replaced the thermo and radiatior and so on...
so i decided it was time to get a new baby...
i got the opitunity to import a A31 Cefiro so ofcourse i got rid or the exa...
but fark do i miss that baby...
i dont mean to sound big headed, but i could loose anyone on the mount dandy run.

I've had my 92 NXR for just over a year now, the power windows packed it in, when I bought it, I got the car yard to regas the boot struts and change the battery. Other than that, the hoses looked like they were in good nick, I did thorough checks, it all depends on how well the previous owners looked after the car, it may take some time finding a good one, or you may luck out.

If you need a hand checking them out, or want to see what a decent condition NXR is like, give me a yell.

My NXR is only in bad shape due to neglect by the previous owner, i'm slowly turning it into a reliable machine.

My clutch is worn out, and needs replacing, 159,000kms.
My power windows have been wired incorrectly, the drivers door can only move the passenger door up, no matter which way the switch is flicked.
Engine rattles for a short time while starting the car (can be fixed easily, shown in other threads).

Suspension is very nice, not a harsh ride, yet still corners very good.

Mine is a 1991 model.

no offence, but exas have a reputation as lemons partly because of the type of owners they attract. most people with these cars consider themselves backyard mechanics, and will happily service and attempt rebuilds themselves without proper training, parts, tools and professional advice. i know there are exceptions but this is generally the nature of the beast.
also due to age, these cars would average 3 or 4 owners nowdays. you're inheriting all the previous owner's bad driving habits, infrequent maintenance attempts, dodgy wiring etc.
as for failures of seals, gas struts, rust and clutch, that happens to every car eventually

i wouldnt disagree with you 1 bit... :)
as i serviced my n13 myself, by the book i might add, and nearly drove it into the ground, theres even a pic of me on 2 wheels...
but how else was i going to learn?
i have no shame in admiting it :)

just like any car.... if depends on its history.... it is a nice mid 90s model car and is fairly ahead of its times....
main thing ull find is if u do need work done to it.... it may be expensive due to the tight fitting sr in the enginebay....
they r generally betta cars then the little sister n14 pulsar

My car, a 94’ NXR has been very reliable so far (never broken down), have had it 8 months now. The only problems encountered so far seem to be common to the model, such as a slight flat spot in the rev range ~ 2500-3000rpm. This problem is usually related to the EGR/BPT valves beings clogged with carbon. Also a rear strut squeak from the left hand side. Which, one person I was talking to said seems to be fixed by taking off the inner rear guard plastic and searching up in there. But apart from these common ones I have only had two oddities, which are; Now the front strut/sway bar/something on the left hand side is making a clunk over bumps. Hopefully just something loose that I can tighten easily and the bottom bolts in the front callipers were warped and causing slight scraping when cornering.
