Hey Guys,

Just picked up a NXR and filled it up with BP Ultimate last night...

Almost straight away the car developed a flat spot or a miss or something....

Has anyone had any trouble with putting ultimate in their cars?

Only mods done to the motor is a air filter.. should I be putting this fuel in? Previous owner used Optimax..

thanks

I find Optimax better (better performance & i get more k's per tank) in my SR20DET but all my mates prefer Ultimate

dude i been using ultimate in my nx since i got it and it seems fine. But at the same time i have never run it on anything else so i do not have anything to compare with.

I use standard ULP and have no problems besides an occaisional 2000RPM hesitation.

I have used Optimax every now and then and it ran smoother but always ended up forgetting and going back to standard ULP.

I reccomend ulitmate for sr20de's, mine runs so much smoother and more responsive, whereas optimax will give me an extra 50k's per tank.
You'll prolly find the extra octane screwed a bit with your ecu, and or the additives in the fuel might have dislodged something or cleaned something which is giving a different response.
The prob is the sr20's and most other jap designed cars require 98ron petrol, japan dont have any lower grade fuel, then it comes to australia and gets fucked with by the 95 and lower ron fuels.

to the original question i have had the same problem once BUT i let my tank run right to empty and put it down to shit in the bottom of the fuel tank and also to Herbs comment posted above it also come to this conclusion, BUT it also could be old peterol cause i ahve herd that BP Ultimate has a shorter perioud befor it is goes off "so to speak" i have been told this by friends so i cant guage if it is true

is it advisable to run your tank dry? my mechanic told me never go below 1/4 tank if you can help it, so you don't use the crap that settles to the bottom.

nah brother, sold the shit box 2 weeks ago..

Had nothing but probs with it!! Never thought you could buy a 45k lemon!! :madshake:

Problem is fixed, it turned out to be a loose spark plug lead...

I've gotta get some pics of my nx coupe... its in full original condition only 69k's etc...
