Hi to all,
What options are available for replacing the worn leather s/wheel with an aftermarket one, wrt cruise control ?
I rang a few trimmers around SYD and no one is interested in doing a retrim on the stock wheel.
So what options are available ? I would be glad to hear other people's experiences with this problem.
Cheers,
Sel

I've replaced my wheel with a autotechnica one, and i just rewired the cruise control back into my loom, and placed the controll just uner my steering column.

Herbsy,
I got a MOMO Fighter sitting on the back bench gathering dust, looks like I will be busy next weekend
What boss kit did you use ? Is there one for NX, or Pulsar ?Are your blinkers self-cancelling OK ?
I am guessing, it was a simple three switch connection to the loom aft of the steering wheel contact tracks ?
Wonder if you could wire in an aftermarket stalk type switch ?
Email me a pic of your setup when you get some time.
Cheers,
Sel

heya mate,
I just asked autobarn parts for a nx-r boss kit, they gave me a choice of autotechnika or saas, so i dare say they might be from the pulsars as well.
As for the indicators they sometimes will not turn off automaticaly, this is due to the physically smaller wheel.
As for the cruise controll i just located the corresponding wires from the tracks and simply just rejoined them, i then used the standard mounting brackets from the original cruise controll and screwed it into the steering column just under the wheel. Only took about 2 hours and was fully functionable.
If i get some time tonight i will grab some pictures and post em on here for ya mate.

i just put on a new saas wheel with a saas boss the part number for the boss is bk144L it's the same boss for just about every nissan built around that time. as for the C/C i just did what herbs has done and tacken the original switch and re wired the plug onto the wires on the collum side of the wheel then mounted the switch on the cowl just under the indicator stalk. works a treat and loks like it's ment to be there.

UPDATE: I fitted the SAAS boss kit, (BK144L) works a treat, cancells both blinkers fine. As for the cruise control, I mounted it on the side of the housing next to the ignition key, that was the only spot it would fit without being hit by my hands when turning the steering wheel.
LHS has much more room, but the buttons are designed to go onto the RHS.
Wiring it in was straight forward, I just had to move the steering wheel spade contact to the middle pin, as the copper pin wasn't making the contact,as the boss kit has a smaller radius ring than OEM.With the other two wires, even if you wire them backwards, you won't do any damage, just your buttons (top/bottom) will be backwards also, so you just swap the wires around, and it is done.
Once you figure out where to mount it, all up is a 30 min job.
Hope that helps you guys out.

just a note guys, any aftermarket wheel is an instant defect.
Unless it is engineered and certified to comply with the proper ADRs regarding crumple zones and crash impacts etc.

Even more so, due to any steering wheel that comes from the factory with an airbag CAN NOT be removed unless it is replaced by another one fitted with an airbag and it must be engineered and certified, all insurances are also null and void just to make your defect notice sting even more
