ok, after speakign to SirNX on a cruise..
just want ot know anything i may have forgotten.
ENGINE- the quad throttle body version (from a GTiR pulsar) will fit straight in.
no modding anything. all holes bolt up, and there is room for the turbo to fit ?
ECU & LOOM- will use on supplied with engine... ecu is same as the stock, just a diffrent proagram in the chip? ... loom will fit fine ?
OTHER- Cruise control will still work, and can be connected to the turbo engine?
i know i will need a new clutch, and i can use same box if i out heavy duty fluid in it?.
what else should i need to know ?
will be looking at spending about $4000 tops
(found a mate that can do it for $3000)
also found a place they say "conversion is $2700) is that the whole lot, or just hte labour?, or just the parts ?
I have cash ready to go..in the bank... i need this done ASAP, b4 i waste the money on other crap. but i dont want to get stuck, or rip myself off
Thanks

Yeah it fits. drivers side driveshaft only 2/3 bolt holes on the support line up though... shouldnt be a major drama. Make sure your engine mounts are in good condition, as i have seen the manifold on the GTi-R engine rub through the brake booster on a n14, and a b13 with bad mounts (it is a VERY close fit!!). Yeah there is room for the turbo.

yes the ECU pinouts and plug are exactly the same as the DE... but if you are changing the loom this is irrelevent. I strongly suggest you use the GTi-R loom, as a few sensors and solenoids are in different positions and it will save you cutting and shutting the loom. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE GTIR AFM as it is different to the b13/n14/u12/u13/w10/w11 afm. Also the gtir engine loom has no oxy sensor connection, it uses the main loom. there should be an unused plug close to the oxy sensor tucked somewhere in the body with 3 wires in it (it wont plug in though - dont try) and some quick prodding with a multimeter will tell you which wires are what, but so will a trip to an auto elec.
OTHER- Cruise control will still work, and can be connected to the turbo engine?
I dont know what you will hook it up to... there is no provision on the GTi-R throttle linkages for cruise control

The DE box is good for around 200kw @ wheels. after that, you will be replacing them on a weekly basis, due to fractured 2nd/3rd gear.
Also, dont forget..
Exhaust.
Intercooler (how are you going to do this? the stock cooler wont fit under the bonnet)
ummm... thats all i can think of. Good luck!

nexis did this and said in another thread he had trouble with cruise control not working with quad throttle bodies

Hey blood, what happened to selling the NX :D hehe
First up, is your 4g budget all up including buying the motor/halfcut??? If so, i feel you should rethink this conversion. Trust me, it blows out really quicky. How long can you afford to have the car off the road?
Things to think about for you;
* You need to do something with the intercooler. Top mount wont work. You can front mount with some modifications to the cooler allow $100 max for that. Then of coarse you need to run pipes to it. You can spend up to $400 or so on s/s if you like...
* You will need some exhaust modification. This could cost from say $200 - 2000 depending on what you want. Obviously the 200 would be a "make you current one work" kinda job.
* Need mod plate $100-150.
* You will need prob at least one new engine mount, if not more if they are buggered. I think the cheapest i got the all from was autobarn, the whole set was about 250 i think.
*You need a fuel pump. Min $200
* Better clutch $400-500 / throw out bearing etc. BTW two bolts do not line up on the g/b to the gtir motor. No biggy.
*I replaced pretty much every hose i could find. That cost a small fortune. But lets say yours are all in good nick.
*More than likely you will get a custom intake to turbo, cos the det one put the filter in a gey position....
*New plugs, platinums only allow $130 i think. Really new leads is good idea too..... but we will leave that out for this exercise...
*Your going to need a decent dyno $200 min
*Oils, coolant, filters etc, allow $100 min!
This is by no means a comprehensive list, i have just jotted down a few things off the top of my head, there is a lot more stuff than this....
OK, adding those up conservitely i get about 1800. Now that leaves you 2200, to buy the motor, and pay for labour putting it in. Im thinking its not possible to be honest, even if you had free labour.......
Now that was on the provision that everything on your car and the donor motor is 100% ok. Like, no new cv's/boots, afm, tps, alternator, fuel reg all that sort of stuff.
Im yet to witness any conversion that hasnt had problems with ecu and idle. I know steve definetly did and so did i. From memory when i spoke to SIRNX, he was having troubles too. I have seen most conversions with a aftermarket ecu...
Cruise control and the gtir motor have not gone well for me. We tried to hook up the standard c/c when i was using the gtir ecu, the it was too surgey due to the quads. I have since gone to aftermarket ecu and ditched the cruise idea. If you are really keen on getting c/c going, i can give you a number of a guy that i think would be able to do it, he is a guru, has his own car audio / alarm place....
Sorry to be a downer dude. But that my experiance. Everyone will tell you to over budget everything, listen to them!!
If you got anyother q's fire away dude. Happy to help if you need it.

yeah nexis thats definatley a conservative price list.. i was told think of what you need to spend then double it...that will be what it takes to get running...and they were right and i dont even have the cooler hooked up yet
but i didnt take short cuts i replaced ALL pumps, hoses , seals, cleaned injectors etc before the DET went in paid for everything to be done right the 1st time and bought new ecu and afm expensive clutch etc
"More than likely you will get a custom intake to turbo, cos the det one put the filter in a gey position...." <--- this cost me more then i thought but hey it looks cool
more then happy with the $ amount i spent as it has run perfect ever since

Sometimes I just love being in the industry.......
All up I just added everything together and my whole coversion cost just on $4000..... Sorry to say that guys!!
My mate (performance parts seller and mechanic) and I did the coversion ourselves, the engine was perfect, everything is standard except for pod filter and frontmount (oh, did I mention one of my best mates is a fitter and turner.....) We made the pipes ourselve, the exhaust is standard (modified ourselves).... walbro pump, a bov and a bleed valve.... have I forgotten anything??.... no, thats it!
Anyway, long and short is that you can make it as expensive or as cheap as you want. I was lucky in that my engine was a gem... $4K for 110% power increase - good in anyones language!
You will have to modify the DE flywheel to suit the gtir enigne - the gtir crank has biger bolts and the gtir flywheel wont fit the DE gearbox....
I have used the DE loom. Only difference is factory boost controller plug and gearbox plug (neither of which you need as it does not affect the running of the vehicle). I have had no comupter problems excpt for a high idle, however I know of many GTiR's that suffer the same problems.... small price to pay for mumbo! Just watch out for the injector plugs.... they are different in size.....
Other than that the coversion is easy as piss. Much easier than a U12-u13 deal (I have done them in pulsars before...) no crossmember modification at all...... all just bolts in with a bit of know-how.
If you want to make more power on that engine cheap, just go buy a ZEX kit and enjoy - just go easy on the gearbox - slide into the gears or it will be obliterated. Mine will spin the tyres into fourth with only a 55hp shot....
However, for jus fun, the GTiR engine is a potent conversion for this vehicle. Mine has 213fwhp at 16psi without gas, and that is just enough power to have damn good fun without breaking too much shit. even with all the gear bolted to my shitter (stez, seats, etc) it will still run 14.0 @ 104mph - on just 12psi (I was soft on the boost back then for fear of breaking a box...). I have friends in my club that run low 13's (WRX's.... MR2's..) and I can stick my nose in from on the hyway.....
Join the NXiR club - there are a few of us now. You wont regret it!

PS - I would really like to know the power figures/q-mile times of the other NX Turbo's out there...... I am interested to keep in touch with what I have to beat!! ;)
Let me know guys!!! I know steve isn't far behind me! (146fwkw....) Anyone else??

is the gtir engine alot harder then the u13? seems to have alot of problems with this one.. or is it the same for the u13 aswell?

I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT U R SAYING...... the gtir engine swap is easier... no fabrication, just bolt in - reason being that it is pulsar to pulsar chassis........ is that what you are getting at??
