I have been thinking about this a lot lately and personally, i think that we should scrap post counts in buy and sell.
Why?
A lot of things that are for sale in there are not car related and even if they are;
The buy and sell section really isnt a huge part of why we are here.
Too many people post whore in there (note all the *Bumps* and other associated dreamer posts)
I just have been getting the feeling that post counts should reflect a members contribution to the community, and not just how much time they spend online, and the first step towards this is reducing the amount of "less important" forums that count towards the posts total.

I think that the state sections should still count, even tho its a grey area. same for whats new (altho most posts in these are usually BS, there are still important ones regarding the organising of cruises which does indicate a user's level of participation)
But the buy and sell IMO is just like off topic and we shouldnt be rewarding people for mind numbing amounts of *bump* and *GL with the sale* and shit like that.

I say no to the "Whats new" how ever i may agree with you on the state sections.
But we "as mods" must start knuckling down on posting in the right section.
On toymods forum the state section are STRICTLY meets and cruises ONLY! But on other forums not quite that tight but still fairly good with posting in the right section!

yeah things can be pretty slack around here regarding that, and im not picking on anyone, but there does tend to be some favouritism (just to prove im impartial, even between devils and myself on some occasions) but that is more a reflection of the smaller size of our forum and the closeness of most of the members.
And im not trying to pick on the forum or the mods either, im just raising the issue that as the forum grows and matures, we need to evolve to adapt to the current situations.

and another thing.
If we do scrap the post counts in buy and sell, or any other forum, i think a recount of the tallys would be good. warren said earlier that there is a function for the software to re-tally all the posts which im guessing is designed for just such an occasion.

The people thatactually give a shit about post count will always post in whats new, and once its moved to off topic, they forget about it...

post count doesnt reeli show anything bsides amount of time spent on the club
this can seperate the vertarens from the newbz, but still, its not a thing to be proud of and not a thing to be ashamed of
jus leave it be i reckon

I only stopped post counts in off topic so people didn't dribble too much non-car shit on here just to increase their post counts... buy and sell is car related, so the count stays :)
