When I am doing 100KM on he freeway, my revs are sitting on 3500RPM in 5th gear, this seems pretty high for the speed I am doing?
Any ideas why itis so high.

What size tires/rims you have?

185/60/14. They are the standard rims that came with the car when new.
Could I ask why this is important in relation to my revs being high

that sounds about right, at 90kms in 5th mine sits on 3000rpm....exas could easily do with a 6 speed 'box

Yeh thats all good! Remember our engines are designed to 'rev'. Redline of 7500!

My Bosses V6 Pajero revs at 3000-3500 in 5th doing 110kmph!

they are only a 1.8l so you gotta expect that they rev higher, ensures that you have a little bit of power on the highway when needed. if it only revved at 2000-2500 rpm at 100-110km/h then it would be gutless on the highway. i drove from sydney to brisbane sitting on 140 km/h most of the way, slowed down for speed cameras, and it revved around the 4000rpm mark or maybe a little higher and it had no dramas what so ever, i think the motor liked it :P
