Ok, I probably already know the answer to this question, since the CA18DE is slightly larger, the computer is probably going to dump more fuel into the cylindars? Am I at least close?
Well here is the story and its an onging saga. Have an 87 with an E16I, drove it around for a few months and contemplated putting the bigger engine in. Well in Dec, the tranny went on the car, so I thought it was the perfect time to do it. I found an 88 with a DOHC engine not to far from my home that was running, thats about it, it was running. so I baught the car with what I thought had a CA18DE engine in it. Who would have ever thought that someone would have taken the CA18DE out and put in a CA16DE engine. I only figured this out during the rebuild, the bores were CA16DE (78mm) as appose to the CA18DE bores (83mm). Well now knowing I had a CA16DE engine I forged ahead and finished the rebuild and put the engine in the car not thinking about the electrical stuff. So I am now at the wiring part, found a nice list of Nissan ECUs online which outlined what the codes are for each one. Ok, so I have an 88 NX with a CA16DE engine, that actually ran though not well. I am asusming at this point that it did not run well because of the ECU. So the guy that did this, apperently did not do his homework in the first place and here I am with a CA16DE engine and an CA18DE ECU and assuming a CA18DE wiring harness!!
I checked out Devils manual online and found that the wiring in that manual is not even close to the US version, well at least the colors are not right. So the big question is, how different is the wiring between the CA16DE and CA18DE, if I go and get a CA16DE computer, can I plug it right in or am I back to rewiring stuff?
