Silly thread question

Im new so forgive my stupidity but....

Is there anyway to get the threads linearised from recently posted in and onwards? I dont mean the replies in each thread but the actual threads in each forum.

I dont know whether im making sense but I find it hard to know what topics have recently been posted in because they dont move to the top...

Newly replied threads (one or more new posts) will move to the top of a forum!

Otherwise there is an option where only the threads which have unread posts since your last visit are displayed!
