N12 Plenum

HEY ALL.
MY BONNET FLEW UP SMASHED MY WIND SCREEN AND BENT ALL MY PLENUM ( PIECE BETWEEN BONNET AND WINDSCREEN ).

I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS CHANGED ON EOF THESE BEFORE IS SO IS IT AHARD JOB AND ARE THEY WELDED OR BOLTED IN AND DO U NEED TO TAKE THE WINDSCREEN OUT OR WAT.

iF ANYONE HAS PLEASE REPLY

ALSO HOW U GET A PIC OF UR CAR WHERE UR SIGNATURE IS ON EACH POST.

Hey,
are you sure this was the plenum? If so, yes, I have changed a fair few of these and they bolt on.
You can put a picture in your signature by using the "...." tags in your signature area under user contorl pannel.

Yeah its called the plenum what else would it be called.

i have one just needs to be painted and fitted.

So it isnt a hard job

Hey,
the plenum is part of the motor... Not a pannel. I cant remember ther name of the pannel your talking about, but its not the plenum. I dont think you can un bolt them and I think you'll have to take out your windscreen to repair it.

yeah chris I thihk he menas the bit above the firewall - -the bit that is behind the bonnet when the bonnet is closed - it has the little vents in it for the heater/air con I think? Or is this still called the firewall as its pretty much attached to the firewall in the engine bay...

yeah the piece i am talking about is the panel between the bonnet and the windscreen i dunno what teh fuck it is dont care just want to know if anyone has taken one out before

talk about touchy feely! keep it cival guys who cares what it's called im sure we're all aware! try wreckers as well and just keep yours eyes out for cheap nasty exas you might get lucky and score extra parts to sell to cover it!

i have alway know this part as a plenum also, so dont worry baggy you are not the only one :moonsmili

it is not an easy swap i would imagine, you would have to remove the windscreen and two guards, drill the spot welds off, then place the new pannel on and weld it into place.
its not all that hard a job if you have some pannel beating knowledge, but it would still be at least a day job.

The word you're looking for is scuttle, I believe. Maybe the ducting underneath for the ventilation system can be referred to as a plenum...

you guys should have seen the threads that were no the older forums, this is like revision 4 or 5 or something. People always complained when they updated them, then after a month they love the new forum... Classic.
Anyway where I was going with that is - Warren, do we still have a link to one of the old forums? An archives of some sort? There is some funny stuff in there I can guarantee you!

Hey it is called a plenum panel

the part on the engine is called a intake plenum chamber
