Chances r u lost the races cause of you'r driving, but then again there is the chance that the corolla may go harder. The old CA18de doesn't put out much power and weighs around 1.1tons. Where as the old corolla may have the same power and wewighs less??? My little 1.5L carby Civic use to beeat exa's and VL's and the sort. I'm currently driving a Turbo 88' Exa. I haven't done too much yet, MicorTech computer and huge frount mount. I personally believe with the usual mods work a car like mine can run a 12 on slicks. The mods being new clutch, T28 turbo, custom managment, frount mount and big exhaust. The old SR is always a better option but i'm really only familar with exa's with CA18DET's in them. Hope i was of help???

I wouldn't completely rule out the CA18DE.... get it in proper tune, a few minor mods... and you can actually beat turbo'd CA18DDET's and come close to several others. Just my thoughts, not saying u're wrong Akela.

sounds like ure neart lies with n/a's a lonx
just costs more to have similar power when up in a slightly modified turbo levels
u need massive cams to get anywhere near 250 kw's(motor)
whereas a turbo motor wouldn't be as peaky though would be peakier then stock
