red cars arent faster, the cops just notice them more :P

Any bright coloured car grabs more attention... its a curse!

Plus... imagine youre driving a red car and theres a bull in the road... uh oh...

But on the positive side, its easier to mask the blood splats when you are drink driving and hit a pedestrian, just clean the blood and chunks of hair off the windows and drive away.

red paint actually has much smaller wave lenghts in its paint costruction. So technically red could be faster as it offers much less wind resistance due to the smaller wave lenghts.

ahah calm down hey. :). most people believe that red cars are faster. its an old myth and a funny one. probably cause back in the day only Ferrarri's and other fast cars came in red. but either way, its still an urban myth that some people, for some reason or another, still believe.

no no no. blue is faster because its the same colour as the sky.
Black is stealth, mixes with the road.

you are more than welcome to say that. just that "red goes faster" is a myth held by people all over the world since the motor car was invented. Its not just something that a nissanexa.com member has made up... so you've got a lot to catch up on.

Actually, you ALL have it wrong.

Stickers, huge wings etc make the cars go faster, not red paint.

And James, Red is at the longer wavelegnth end of the spectrum.

yeah.. put a typeR sticker on anything for an instant 5 seconds on your quarter mile time.

Theres a funny honda civinc hatch going around my way with a little asian punk driving, the car has a shit body kit and a milo tin exhaust, but thats not the funniest bit... the funniest bit is that it has Holden VT SS badges on the back, and holden STORM badges on the sides.... makes me split my sides every time.. of course i forgot that honda released a Civic "SS" "Storm" that must be fully powerful mate!
I tried to take a photo the other day but traffic moved... damn mobile camera.

The professor shakes his head in disbelief and continues to ponder whether to purchase an AWD TX3 turbo, will it beat the lot of you?

It is RED, Turbo, 4WD grip, Spoiler, Mags, BOV, boost gauge, suspension .... Oh yeah a alloy gear knob too. Surely it will be fast based on all the above criteria.

and then the red exa drive's up ahead and passes the proffesor who is on the side of the road due to that his gearbox has gone down the shitter due to it is the achille's heel of AWD laser's :p

I have read a little bit about gearbox issues, usually associated with trying to drag off from the lights and dropping the clutch too fast. Too much grip, too much power nasty on any early model AWD gearbox I would imagine!

Bah, why get a TX3 when there is such a car as the Mitsubishi Galant VR4?

TX3 - 117kw, p.o.s gearbox

VR4 - 148kw, bulletproof gearbox and entire driveline

nuff said :P (in my opinion of course)

Is the motor of the VR4 bulletproof though? I've just had bad bitsamissing experiences.

Ben Hewitson

VR4 Model 4G63 motors have 12mm head studs wereas other version of the 4G63 have 10 or 11mm.. not sure why they went smaller, but the VR4 HH5 model are known to be the strongest of the bunch.

Didn't buy the TX3, decided to stick with the EXA..however I spent the last week with a late model supercharged Calais. Must say it kind of grew on me!!!

Heaps of grunt without reving the crap out of it and more than enough leg room for my 6"4 height.

Hehe. ive got nothing but good things to say about calais, and I dont even have a supercharged one (danni would kill me)
I still think commodores are bogan crap, but a calais is a decent car to drive around in.

And i certainly wouldnt say no to a VE Calais, or VE SS.... even if they do fall apart.
It makes me laugh when holden say that they are worried about sourcing fastener parts... teh ones they had didnt even work anyway, so they may as well just ship the cars off without them.haha.

I believe it was a VY series II, got me thinking that perhaps there is room for one in my carport, beats playing tunes with the EXA gear box.

Must be getting soft!

Hehe... Nothing wrong with that.

If you can find one with low KMs then go for it, theyre a great car.
Ive driven a VN and a VT calais, and read up heaps on the VE calais... nothing but good stories... Next time a buy a car, it will be a brand new calais...

mmmmmm VE 6.0L Calais.... mmmmmmmm

(although by the time I can afford the $60K tag, GMH will probably not exist)

Problem with the supercharged commos are they are expensive, bad on insurance (especially with those of us that are under 25) and a stock 6cl BA/BF is quicker.

Today I turned 9 years off being half a century old so insurance isn't such a big problem for me, I think I can sign up for API insurance soon. The TX3 I talked about was only going to be $400 full comp with agreed value of $6000

With respect to the BA Ford, I fid have a drive of a BA XR6 a while back and was similarly impressed.

To keep the thread on topic I suppose I should get a red one!!!

haha..i love how the Lex guy only posted once and it was to tell his story

the whole thing about modding up your car and not having ANY real engine mods is huge around here. my favourite is this guy steve saunders who has a sunfire and it has
-altezza taillights
-lowered suspension
-fugly ass rims
-dual mufflers
-colored headlights
-racing seats
-stereo system

oh and..NOT ONE engine compnent added

did i mention its automatic?

and actually i heard black makes the car go faster
