I need yer help bad. It seems that all the phone companies in Canada are dumb as thumbtacks. I tried calling then and they don't know this, what kind of a company wouldn't know this. Ok, here's the question. When one of you (Aussies) are calling North America, what are the exact numbers that you dial, i.e. 9+999+999+9999 or something like that. I need to know this in order to complete my university application. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

In Australia, if phone numbers are listed in international format it will look like this:
+61 3 9876 5432
Ie: dial your international prefix (in Aus that's 0011); then the country code (which can be found in the phone book, Australia's country code is 61 and the us is 1 i think); then the area code; then the local number.
Basically the prefix (denoted by the +) is dependent on the country you are calling FROM and the rest is dependent on the country you are calling TO. In canada it is unlikely that the prefix is 0011. So therefore you should call em up and ask them what their international prefix is (for canada). Then check out the website of the uni and they should have the international version of their number (+12 345677) or if not at least the area code.
Then dial the number your telco gave you to get international, then the country code for the us (1 ??) then the area code (minus the preceeding zeros) then the local version of the number.
Hope you understood this babble, good luck

Yeah, I found it out. I neede the number that someone would use calling me FROM Australia. It's 001.1.Area Code. Phone Number.
I know the number to the University, it's on their website. I just need the numbers to dial out. And the stoopid phone company didn't know. How pathetic is that.
