hey guys - i just got a pair of headlight motors off someone here and. i have a lil problem though...that is - the plugs / wiring on the new motors are different to the plugs / wiring in mine - and i dont know what to do - the new motors have 6 pins ( 1 plug with 5 pins, 1 plug with 1 pin,) and my motors have 5 pins (1 plug with 3 pins, 1 plug with 2 pins)..
MY exa is an 85' N12
the motors / casing looks exactly the same - except for the plugs.
what can i do about it, and is there a way to get them to work, because i really need to know!
please get back to me asap,
kramer
ps - please help! - the orig problem is the cogs were threaded out - but i cant just change the cogs - as they have different circuits on the cogs.
i need a direct rewiring - is there anyone out there smart enuff to help me out???

Hey,
like I said in PM, swap the plugs over. Hopefully the wires are the same colour which would make it easier, but if not it shouldnt be too hard to figure out which is which...

the wiring is all different colours, and the circuits are different, incl the circuits on the cogs :(

i am in the same boat as dennish, but consider this.
not really sure how the motors work so this is a bit of a guess....
to go up, the motor will need power, and earth. to go down the motors will need power and earth, but in the opposite polarity.
try testing the wires with a multi meter, earth should be easy to find, try finding active wires when headlights are going up/retracting, and work from there.
i cant think off hand what the other 3 wires would be, it could be done with 3 wires if the motors had a small conditional output circuit inside each of them.
if you mean there is 5 pins total to run both motors, maybe it is just as i said before, power up, power down, for each, and a common earth.
possibly two seperate earth wires in the new style that has 6 pins.
if it is 6 pins per motor i am stumped

grsb your exa - pop the hood and look at the wiring - heh - you'll see!
i had a auto electricial over yesterday - he spent 3 hours trying to figure out a workable rewiring etc...came to conclusion that it cant be done.
on the bright side - i melted the plastic cogs, and re cut grooves/teeth with a hacksaw / file, and the left hand side headlight is working now. but the right hand side only wants to go down, not up - this is just the motor - no pressure...
the circuit is screwed in the right side one - so i'll have to umm...resolder it all tonite and see what appens tomorrow ;)

found a solution...
i ripped out the circuit board, and just left the motor and cog.
i attached the motor to the battery (by wire) and put in a simple 2 way switch.
now when i hit the switch the lights go up, and if i leave the switch on - they just go up and down, so u just cut the power when they are up / down how u like them
and that also means, that i can make my exa headlights blink! hahahahah.
thanks to sam for all his help. i have a left hand side headlight motor up for grabs if anyone is needing one
i think it's for a n13 exa.

Hey,
no probs mate - sorry that it turned out a much more difficult task than simply swapping the motors over. Who knows what was Nissans intentions there! Hope you will have your car on the road soon.
