Hey all, new here.
Just have a question about our 1993 NXR.
I bought it in january. Since then, fuel consumption has gotten progressively worse, it's now averaging about 260km on a full tank.
The question is, should I get it checked out or should we just look into buying a new motor? Is it even worth it? The car is the only option for transport for me at this time though.

Any thoughts, suggestions, answers would be much appreciated

Thanks :)

Hey,
before you go into looking at a new engine, try a new 02 sensor and take it to a mechanic. or ease of the right pedal :P

What do you call a full tank?
The tank holds 50 litres but you can only use 40 to 42 litres due to the design of the tank and fuel pickup.
The contents of the tank is used to cool the internal pump so if you continually drive on a low tank you can overheat and damage the pump.
{Petrol as a coolant - Go Figure}
If I nurse my NX-R I get between 8.4 to 9.5 litres per 100 klm BUT
If I peddle it I will only get 12.5 litres/100k or worse.
So I drive mine like the old bastard that I am and fill up before 440 kilometers

Finally the first intelligent thing you have said - there is hope for us all yet!

The o2 sensors are pretty cheap, I got one for $40 delivered from ebay.
And I get 11.something litre per 100km

You need a consult cable to check what the computer is doing, will show up error codes. I had a knock sensor error code, got another one and went from around 10.5l/100ks to about 8l/100ks

i hit up about 450 clicks for 44lt, that's with abit of pedal action as well.

Hit the freeway abit 'n' it ends up being about 8-9 lt p/100kms

That's with a 91nx done 240kms air intake 'n' exhaust mods running 98 RON

I take it your idle is fine? running around the 1000-1500 mark,

Sounds like a hellava drink
