Sprayin interior questions (from old board)

Hey yall

I haven't actually seen this painted on anyone elses car but you know the air con vents in the middle of the dash. Well the plastic one mine is a weird greyish colour and I wanna spray it like I did the bit below it. but how the hell does it come off. there's no screws don't tell me i gotta remove the whole dash. If so how do i do it.

I am not sure exactly how to get it out, But I know it does not jus pop out. There are a couple of screws on the bottom (just above the heater)
I also think there are a couple in the back?

just take out the 3 screws under .. it will help !
then take out hte main dash ( where speedo and tacho is)
then by this time.. it should have fallen onto the floor !
, if not.. just nudge it , using ya finger ...

I did it yesterday, no need for undoing shit, just pry it gently from the outer edges with a flat head screw driver...

yeah my exa has a wierd greyish coloured part around the center aircon vents too while the rest of my interior is black????? are they all like this? anyone have the same whats the deal? nissan probably just messed up and made too many grey ones so they just wacked em in anyway just as a joke.. lol

yeah mines a lighter colour then the rest as well. I think they are all like that.

my vents are all blackbut then again my exa is January 1987 the first batch made

The surround of my centre vents are grey too. Well more like the gunmetal colour you get in Derwent pencils.

I tryed pulling the center vents out today. I took the cover for the speedo and stuff off. And tryed to move the trim for the air vents but it wont move so I kind of slid my hand around the back of it. I can feel a lil screw holding it in. Any one else had this trouble. I think I might need to take out all of the dash.

ok...
if you want to remove the center vents use a flat head screw driver and pry from the out side and out...vent will prolly fall inwards as you pop the sides-hehe.

i took pics but someone set the camera to huge bastard pics so they are all too big...

ok.. if you want to remove the grey console part you have to remove the guage cover also as there is a tab that goes underneath this unit.
then take out the cover for the radio and the radio itself...
then you will see two tabs on the bottom and four across the top...push up on the two at the bottom with one hand and then use a small flat screwdriver to pull the tabs down across the top...then it will slide right out.

TTriX I have the vents out but still cant get the trim off from around it (I must be weak hehehe). If you still have the pics could you email em to me please.

i'll email you in a few minutes-k?
but if you look inside the vent console you will see the lines wher the tabs are...
push up from the hole where the radio is and use you thumb and index finger to push the two tabs at the bottom...stick your other hand inside the vent hole(where the vents used to be) and pull at the bottom...this will make the bottom of the console to "kick" out, once it is out then use the small flat screw driver to go iside the slots on the top working from one side to the other(ie...1 tab then 2 then ...and so on) this should allow it to come all the way out-k?
i deleted the pics off of my computer but i think they are still in the camera...i'll see.
but they are huge...like 600 plusk...

wooohoooo finaly got the damn thing out. Thanks TTrix I removed the heater stuff as well to get to the clips at the bottom. And now guess what I run out of paint.

but let me guess...
you ran out of paint after the store was closed-right???
it always works out like that for me so i always buy lots of extra materials-hehe
to do the side vent consoles you have to take the whole door panel off to get those removed...
there are some screws behind it holding it on.

heheh yeah store was shut. I got some more today. Yeah I know about the door vents. But when I got my windows tinted I think they broke my passanger side door vent. I opened the passenger side door the other day and it fell off. The plastic part the screws scew into is all snaped. Again thanks again TTrix hehe
