To suit an exa (pulsar nx) which as you know is FWD, you'll want a transverse-mount engine (which rules out RWD cars like Silvias). An ideal candidate would be an import engine (although not coming from North America i don't know exactly what models you get factory-delivered over there). A CA18DET can be found in a FWD U12 Bluebird, whilst an SR20DET will be found in a Turbo 4WD Pulsar (sentra) GTi-R Hatch. Some tweaks will need to be made to the driveline to compensate for the 4WD to FWD conversion.
Contact your local Jap wreckers and make sure you don't buy a longitudional-mount engine. It needs to be FWD (or 4WD).
Speak to Craig (Hairball on the board) for more detailed help regarding the SR20DET conversion.

Trixx:
I'm pretty sure that the 240sx has a KA24DE (n/a) motor because they changed it from the import 200sx verson that austrilia and japan got.
I'm gonna do some hella research and I might be thinking of doing a conversion that no one else has tried... it involves grabbing a turbo motor out of possibly an american 200sx... but then again this is a RWD car I believe...
heh thats why I need to do some research

Do all turbos have to have an intercooler?

ok the only turbo we get stock over here is the sr20det and thats available in the infinity g20t, the ca18det was not available over here. the only version of the ca18de we got was just that....the de and was only available in the pulsar was it not? ive never seen it in anything else. the 240sx has the ka24de nothing else. i would import your motor.i have sources fot hte ca18det in Aussie land but the guy is on vacation rightnow. anyway i hope that answers your questions. aask fatman racing what the sr20 conversion entails i assure you that is not for the faint of heart. so go nuts, i personally recomend the ca18det transplant....much easier......btw can someone locate me a LSD for the ca18det FWD tranny?

Turbos dont have to have intercoolers, but unless u want superheated air going into your engine I suggest you have one. Front mount is a WHOLE lot better than top mount also. But they are more expensive, but if u get a front mount one. MAKE SURE TO HAVE METAL SCREEN IN FRONT OF IT, because u don't want a rock or a stick hitting your new 700 dollar intercooler, heheh.
