Hi Guys
As the subject line suggests it's time to upgrade the fuel pump in the n12.
just wondering what would be the best type to upgrade to? skyline, silvia etc.
And what type of injectors are interchangeable?
Thanks for all your help

Hey,
VL turbo fuel pumps are a good cheap upgrade for an n12. They can go inline externally or be used with a surge tank, but if your after an intank upgrade - I think someone was once saying something about r32 skyline pumps? Or was it magna pump's? Sorry, cant rememberthe internal upgrade.... Second hand VL pumps should sell for around $100. Injectors that will go straight in are CA18DET injectors (330cc) S5 rotar injectors (550cc) FJ20DET (520cc?) and they're a couple of others - check out the modifications section of the N12turbo.com website.
Good luck, Sam

eb falcon fuel pump will fit directly into the stock in tank cradle. Alternatively the vl pump is a good upgrade. apparantly vl and vl turbo pumps are identical, so dont pay the extra for the turbo variant.
fj20det injectors fit in and are more than sufficient, but are hard to get hold of, expect to pay between 200 and 300 for a set. s5 rx7 injectors wont fit as they are not hose tail, and cadet ones wont either.

Hey,
there are two variants of CA18DET injectors and one variant is hose tail. When I was looking for larger injectors I wanted exact fit hose tail units - I ended up going for o-ring style CA18DET units and just put a piece of fuel hose over them (and removed the o-ring) this has worked perfectly so far and they have been in there for about 8 months now... Just make sure yo udo the hose clamps up tight ;)

FJ20Turbo injectors would be ideal, but i can run 168 horsepower at the wheels with microtech computer and still run good air, fuel ratios..

Hey,
no doubt - but I can run more hp with CA18DET injectors and a microtech ;)

Hey boostinhard, what sort of horsepower you running on ya n12 then... im scared of breaking gearboxes at this HP, ive already done 3. Is there a reasonable alternative gearbox or mod that can be done at efficient cost to take more HP??

Hey,
around 180hp plus a 100hp NOS kit (to be added soon, still on my mates exa ;)) and still no broken gearbox's. The most affordable option when it comes to gearbox's is to use non-button style clutches and be pre-pared to re-place them more often than you really should have to. I'd rather change clutches than gearbox's ;)

Bloody good point Boostinhard. That hadn't occured to me. A less violent clutch = less damage.

Hey,
yeah - besides my car likes a clutch that allows a bit of initial slip (as soon as it starts slipping constantly oyu need to change them :P) as it takes a huge shock off the gearbox aswell as smoothening out traction. Gets the revs up whilst still providing plenty of load for the turbo to spool up faster than it would driving through the entire gear. Still got the gearbox in the car that I got with the car and it has seen constant high boost levels, rough changes, very high rev launches and no real maintenance!!! Another helpfull thing is reasonably crappy tires, lets them chirp a bit to reduce friction aswell. I run a full face organic Heavy duty Exceedy cluth.
