does anyone know the best way to get information about your engine? i know my exas original engine and turbo was blown up and another engine put in its place. its a nissan engine and all i know is its a 1.5l. the guy who had it before me said he took it to turbotek and they said the engine is unturbo'able. how do i find out what the engine actually is like a model number or some thing? and where on the engine would the engine number be? would i contact nissan with that number to find out more about the engine?

Hey,
Have a look at the number on the motor, its just off to the passenger sidfe of the middle and should start wiht something like N12E15........... Does your rocker cover say TURBO? you could allways take the head off and have a look at the pistons, there are lots of other give aways, such as the head etc.

The other thing is, I dont know of any Internal combustion motor that isnt turbo'able, just some are easier than others....

the only distingushing mark i can find anywhere on the engine is NISSAN written and below that a big "A" etched in.

its not a turbo :( but as far as i know it is EFI the computers still hooked up if you take the computer off you cant get the car past 2500rpm. found that out when the plug broke.

Hey,
hmmm, I suggest you buy a Workshop manual for it and have a good read. you'll learn lots that way! Or take some engine bay pics and we'll help you out as much as we can!

i've just started a auto mechanic pre-apprenticeship. tomorow is the start of the second week... so thats going to be my main source of learning for awhile. i'm planning on going down the library and grabbing a few books and reading up as well.

i've just talked to the guy who owned the car before me and he knows nothing about it either. he bought it for $600 and due to money problems i bought it off him for $300.

so all up im planning on the car being a learning expierence and aim to get it up to peak performance eventually

i've had the car up on the hoist and everything and can find no evidence what so ever of a engine number, model or anything except the

"NISSAN

A"

really got me annoyed.

finally went looking for the engine details again after a while and have found out i am running an e15! so im definately happy about that the engine number and details turned out to be on like a rusted bar so once i rubbed it back it jumped out at me.
