Hey, i've searched the net a bit for a guide on how to recondition turbos but havnt found anything, thought there would've been something since there are alot of people out there that can recondition them! so i was wondering if any of you guys knew how to recondition turbos? since im trying to save myself a couple of hundred dollas!

Unfortunatly unless you have the equipment it's not all that easy.

As soon as you dismantle the impeller section to replace the bush or bearings and seals the shaft and impeller assy needs to be re ballanced !!

If is isn't reballanced to within specs it will vibrate and either chew out the new bearings and seals or worst case decintergrate it's self stuffing the turbo completly.. !!!

hmm, okay back to the mechanic to get it reconditioned! 700 bux too!

i spun up some new bearings and p[ut it togetha from 2 stuffed ones it lasted bout 2 weeks but did boost with no smoke for a while, i took no notice of balance, the 2 wheels were of differnet T2's , was worth a free go yeah?!
i might have anutha go with some more i got recently for nothing!

without going over std boost i find it hard to imagine a catastrophic failure as mentioned!

Hey,
please dont spend $700 reconditioning the t2!!! Just buy a brand spanking new t25 or something, it will last you much much longer and make your car much much faster!

$700 ? sheeesh

i can get a t28 roller bearing for $1000 and its practucally brand new
the guy who had it, it wasnt powerfull enough for him :)
