View Full Version : Fuel Pressure

Hey:
The car wasn't running that great and after doing some troubleshooting, decided to check the fuel pressure. Found that instead of the 36psi that the manual specs downstream of the filter, I'm reading closer to 46psi. I was expecting to see a low pressure but this is reading significantly high.
If I unplug the vacuum line to the top of the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure gauge climbs up over 50psi so it seems to be working (at least to some degree)
Any thoughts? ???

sounds like its the fuel pressure regulator. I had a problem with a car at work and it was doing that too the engine kept flooding too and the pressure was soo high. it sounds like its working a lil bit cause i dont think they just fail or work, I think they slowly wear out. Hope this helps u man.

Hmmm - anybody changed one before? Is it a big job? Special tool, hints, tips, etc? ???
Thx

Hey people,
This is kinda not related to Roshfe's problem...but:
Sometimes i notice that after i've been for a drive, and i pull up in the garage, i can hear this strange noise. Its like this:
hummmmmmmmmmm..... then stops, then couple of seconds later:
hummmmmmmmmmm..... the stops again....and then does it again... then stops... and it keeps doin' it for a while.
Its like a build-up of pressure in the fuel system, coz when i take off the fuel cap, i get the usual noise, like opening a bottle of coke. But then after i put the cap back on... the noise is gone.
Could this become a problem? like could there be a pressure build up in my fuel system somewhere?
Or is this just normal and nothing to worry about...
Thanks.

Hmmm indeed! ???
That would be a good thing to know since I have also heard the same noise. I haven't tried opening the gas cap tho but I will give it a try.
