okay so heres the story. A friend and i were having a look at the stereo thats installed in my car when i bought it.
The amp was mounted on the floor behind the drivers seat, I didnt want it there because i couldnt move my seat all the way back if i wanted to. Anyway we moved ill post pics soon (when i can) ive never actually seen anyone mount an amp where we have i wont try to explain cause i wont to keep this post as short as possible.
Anyway we've connected the amp back up again and nothing works. I see a transparent capsule thing conected in series in the battery wire running from the battery to the amp. When putting the clamps back on the battery, there was a blue spark that came from this capsule looking thing. I wsa just wondering if this capsule thing was like a fuse or something. Is it possible ive blown it then? I need some help guys cause at the moment my amp is turning on.

Yep that would of been the fuse for the amp that went bang. The ends should twist off and you will be able to replace the fuse inside. It would prob. be an idea to have a look at the power feed going to the amp to see why it blew in the first place.

well the sparks come when i was putting the battery clamp back on. I went to put it on and then my mate spoke to me, i i kind of repeatedly put the clap on and off the terminal in rapid succession, and i was like, awwww that didnt look good.

wen i was installin my stuff i accidently touched the continuos power wire from the headunit with the remote on my amp and got a spark and thought id blown my head unit, then decided 2 check the fuses in the little compartment on the drivers side, and id just blown one of them so it was all crisis over....??

i have a pretty large amp running my subs in my car and it's mounted on the floor behindthe drivers seat. i can move my seat all the way back and it stays nice and cool, out of the way, and fairly hidden. make sure that the location u moved the amp to has ample airflow over the top side of the amp. i think u need 4cm clearance or so... also when u mounted ur amp it needs to be either directly horizontal or directly verticle, not inbetween, if u havent done this then u may have cooked ur amp, a fuse in ur amp, or your amp could be constantly in protection,

after saying that i think that if u have a high quality amp it should be fine and its probably just the power cable blowing a fuse when u have connected it. if u had to remove the wires when u moved ur amp then double check they are all in the right spot. make sure u ran the black wire to a "ground" bolt in ur car and not to the negative side of the battery.

appart from that i'm not really sure, most probably just the fuse. if the amp is under warranty just take it back to where it was bought from and get them to check it out for ya, good luck with it bud, let me know how u go,

P.S congratulations on ur licence dude, and where in brissie are u?? if ur close to me (south east - Redland shire) then i could come and have a look at it for ya if u want?? cya.
