Right... my boss informed me in a nice manner (ie you're fucked if you don't do this) that I should be running 96 Premium unleaded in the EXA because of the turbo or I won't get anywhere near optimal performance.

So I heeded his advice and filled it with this crap...

Now my car has taken an interesting twist, it drives fine until it starts boosting where it'll jump, kick and gasp while the turbo is screaming. What the HELL is up with this? Only happened after I switched to the 96 crap...

Mebbe wastegate pipe failed? Symptoms sound like the ones that other dude had...

either run optimax or super, premium unleaded has a lower ron that leaded fuel. That said, lead replacement fuel is shit most of the time.

have u changed ur fuel filter lately?

96 octane fuel should be fine.. as long as its premium unleaded.

your car just needs to have a tune to suit the fuel, mine was like that when i changed over

Your problem must be co-incidental that it was when you changed fuels.. Optimax tends to be the best fuel as of its 98+ octane rating.. This will not effect how your car runs,, just allows you to set your timing more advanced without pinging(detination) thus giving you more power and usually economy.. If your car is running fine on unleaded without detination, you most likely will find no difference till you play with your timing and boost pressures..

my car was the exact oposite.

if i run on standard premium then driving around at say 2000rpm 60km'h it will cough and splutter and isn't fun to drive... like bunny hopping in gear.

if i run premium or better it reduces these symptoms by about 80%.

but the difference is i know i'm running rich.

so maybe your running lean

Check your spark plugs, and if it has been boosted up, check that the pop-off valve is sealed shut (or removed).
