Hi Guys
Hoping someone could possibly help
I have just finnished putting a CA18DET from 180SX into my N13 Exa. I have used the original inlet manifold. The problem I am facing is whenI bought the car the motor was already half disassembled.
I'm not sure where all the vacum lines etc go. I'm hoping you can point me in a direction where I can trace some of these lines to get it running right. It starts etc, but I need all the other stuff right before I can register it.
Maybe some photo's or a link to where I can find some detailed pictures of inlet manifolds as installed on a standard car..?
Thanks heaps in advance if any of you are able to help!!!!!

This is from LONX
Here's the brief summary I made out of the workshop diagram before redoing my vacuum lines. There might be one or two mistakes but I'm pretty sure its mainly spot on. Please note, you can 'tweak' some of the extra's such as the throttle body to run of manifold pressure rather than the factory solenoid etc.
AFM Air Flow Meter
EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation
CV Check Valve
AFM -> Air Injection Solenoid (1) -> Air Injection Valve
AFM -> Air Injection Solenoid (2) -> Outlet of PRVR Solenoid (3way)
AFM -> PRVR Solenoid (1) -> Pressure Regulator Valve (direct or tubing connection)
AFM -> PRVR Solenoid (2) -> CV -> Vacuum Tank -> Power Valve Solenoid (1)
AFM -> Power Valve Solenoid -> CV -> Power Valve Actuator
AFM -> EGR Solenoid -> EGR Valve & BPT Valve (3way) -> then merge both back together on way to exhaust manifold
Exhaust Cam Cover -> PCV Valve -> Intake Manifold
Hope it helps.

I got her running....
:( Now I find that I have a leaking injector and a cracked coil pack on cylinder no 1!!!!
What a day!

do you have the low or high impedance injectors? I guess high as you have not mentioned you had to add a resistor pack.
I got a low ohm injector spare but no good to you.
I have spare coil packs for the DE engine, dont you.
If you need one gimme a shout.

At the moment I am using the non turbo injectors and computer without the turbo manifold etc, to get it through rego without any dramas. I'm not sure if the injectors are high or low impedance, but I have read that there is a difference.
So whatever the non turbo ones are, that's what I have...Same goes with the coil packs.
I haven't had am EXA before so no I don;t have any spare coil packs, but from what IO can read it's not sucha a bad idea...
If anyone can help out on either of these it would be great!!!

well I have a spare set of the injectors you are using and coils you are using.
All in a1 condition.
Only problem is I am in Perth but I can post.
Make me an offer if you want something.

Thanks for all your help.
I don't want to insult you, I have little idea of what these things are worth. What are you asking?
I can organise frieght, I work at MRT performance in Sydney.
If you want email me your contact details so I can call you and sort something out. Emails to chrism@mrtrally.com.au

well what parts do you want? just 1 of each or the whole set.
Maybe 2coils and the set of injectors?
Also, do you have the address file (.adr) for the n13 ecu?
I cant play with the map as it is just a jumble.

The 2 coil packs and atleast 1 or more injectors would be good.
Can you interchange the injectors, they look asthough they are press fitted onto the rail, could be wrong....
Sorry, no info on the factory ECU. Only a pin out diagram. I haven't really searched around, I'm trying to get my hands on After Market ECU ASAP to get rid of the AFM.
I haven't really worked with a These Nissan motors before, so thanks for your patience and cooperation.

The injectors should just pop out, well they are not pressed in.
I rang a local wrecker where I buy alot of my parts from.
They said $90 + GST for the coils each and $180 + GST for the injectors set.
How about $100 for the 2 coils and $80 for all the injectors?
Also do you have the ECU wiring diagram? Could you send it to me?
Regards,
Dale

mate your gonna have some massive leanout issues with the standard NA inhjectors, they are half the flow rate of the turbo ones!
did u have many drama's fitting the RWD version of the engine to the exa?
what inlet manifold are u using? the standard exa one?
ill be interested in seeing this..
coil packs are easy, i got several spares lying around, i live 5 mins from MRT, so i can drop them off to u if u want, $50 each,
i dont use them cause im using external ones.
let me know

They are not 1/2 the flow rate, they are lower but only by about 100cc or so. I think it is around 340cc to 270cc so only 70cc diff. Should be fine for 7pound or so
If you still are interested on all the bits I was still waiting on an answer.
If you wanted to trade something of interest to the same value that would be fine too.

good upgrade would be the GTIR injectors... 440cc...
I happen to have a set too...

thanks guys for your advise.
I've sourced a coil pack from SSS here in Sydney, got it for $30 so couldn't complain.
Sorry I didn't get back to you, I haven't been at work for a few days.
As for the injectors, I'm running it without the turbo to get through rego, so the NA ones will surfice. I'm changing to 550cc injectors and a custom rail once the motor has done a few km's. I'm changing to a link ECU, with those injectors, then I'm bolting the turbo on. I don't want to stray too far from factory before it has to have it's blue slip, but it will be mostly replaced once it's been on the road for a couple of months.
I'll let you know if I need those injectors shortly, I'm trying to work something out with them, possibly may not have to change it at all...?
The car is still miss firing under load though and all the coils are in AOK condition! So if any of you guys have any ideas on this It'd be great to hear from you!

wouldn't you be expecting some misfiring using the standard computer with a different engine?
I wouldn't expect it to run smooth until it had an aftermarket/180sx computer running it.
That said ... I am no expert. I dare say you know a lot more than me just maybe something you had not thought of.

The car will be legit for each stage of the project. That's why it virtually stock for rego. The ECU, injectors, cams, Oil breather and finally the turbo, front mount and exhaust have all been discussed with an engineer. This will be my daily driver and really don't need the hassles of an illegally modifies car living in the western suburbs. I'm even sticking to N15 SS wheels (15inch) to keep the legailty issues to a minimum..Plus a white N13 exa with pulsar wheels and around 180 kw ATW the wheels will be a nice shock for the average taxidore driver :afro: at the traffic light grand prix!
If anyone wants anymore info on using the RWD motor in the east west engine bay, Id be happy to post about it when I have the time. There's really not much to it!

For rego I'm keeping the standard non turbo computer.
Once it's registered I will be using a LINK PLUS ECU. It is an aftermarket ECU with full 3D mapping. Direct fire ignition and injection without the standard group fire that the standard ECU utilizes. Closed loop electronic boost control, launch control, water spray ouput, shift light output, all the goodies!

True, but I have already bought everything for the car and the labour is all me. The tuning will be done by one of the guys here from MRT. So far the car including purchase price and accesories has cost me less than 6K. I can't justify paying 3-4K, just for an ECU on an otherwise budget project?
That 6K includes all new Whiteline suspension, new DET motor, bigger turbo, bar and plate front mount, ECU all the bits for the motor minus injectors and fuel rail, upgraded brakes and some minor body work.
The only thing I haven't bought yet are the 15inch wheels, but I have them lined up pretty cheap also!
The stereo is another matter altogether but I don't include that in the price of building a car, it's more a luxury than necesity :D

whats your point?
who would spend 3-4grand on an ecu for a car thats only worth that amout,
its only a ca18det, its not twin turbo gtr engine hear, you dont need such an advanced ecu.

buddy, ur the dud hear not me, so go back to penriff where u belong.
yes u get what u pay for, but give me a dyno, and i could tune a microtech to put out as much power as a top brand ecu. maybe not on all engines, but definately on a ca18!!
and yes, i know more then u.
