Hi Guys,
Recently my stock spoiler on my NXR has faded and started to flake off paint. I tried to remove the spoiler myself to respray it but it seems pretty well stuck on. I Located 2 screws (in the middle) which i thought were the only two that were holding it down, but it's stuck down pretty firmly on the ends. My mechanic had a look and reckons that it may be glued down with silicone or something, i don't want to pull at it too hard incase it snaps or worse, buggers up my paint job. My father said he saw an NXR with its spoiler taken off and said he saw 4 holes where the screws were meant to be. Has anyone had any experience with taking off these spoilers, otherwise my only option will be to respray it while it is still on, and pray that i don't get any over spray.
Thanks

Hmmm, i know in the N13 there is 4 screws, and a clip... dunno about NXR's
See if theres any rubber caps underneath the hatch, thats what N13s have and under the caps is like the nuts for the spoiler... Good luck dude!

I did a bit of a search on another forum as I was curious myself. Basically you have to remove the 2 screws (I assume they are the 2 you have already found) and then the spoiler is only attached by double-sided adhesive tape. One possible way is to get some fishing line and slide it between the boot lid and the spoiler and gradually work your way along. The other way was to use a heat gun on the spoiler and boot lid to make it easier to pull off - obviously being very careful not damage the paint or anything else whilst using the gun. Let us know how you go

I would assume it's just like the EXA with 4 nuts to remove but Woodyboy may be right. I don't really have a say because I don't have a spoiler on my NX......curse'ed 1600

My rear spoiler is missing from the back of my car.. but the Stuff that was holding it on it still there (long story) .. i dont know how to describe the stuff that was holding it on, but if you are in Sydney.. you can come have a look!
But basically from what i can see.. it is 2 bolts and a heap of the other stuff (that goes all soft and gooey when it is heated) - - kinda like a black silicon

i reckon its doubled sided tape holding it down... i dont know exactly cause my nx didnt come with a stock rear wing.. but i suggest take off all the bolts... and heat it up and do the fishing line trick

After a few hours of trial and error and plenty of colourful language i got it the bugger off. There are 2 nuts, they are easily accessed thru the boot, and there is also two clips, located about 2 inches off from the ends, these pull out rather easily, but it was stuck down, pretty well with double sided tape, i tried using fishing line and sawing through it, but that took forever and got me no where, i ended up taking off the rubber trim that goes between the spoiler and the bootlid, that gave me 2 mm to play with. I stuck a long kitchen knife and carefully slid it across the double sided tape, i had to take it nice and slowly but. I though i had it, but the double sided tape was on also on on the far side, which was really hard to get to. I finally got it off, only scratching the paintwork on the places that are hidden by the spoiler anyway. Nissan obviously planned on the spoilers to be stuck on for good
