Hi all,
I'm new to the board and I currently don't own an Exa yet, but I'm selling my 300zx Turbo and I'm looking at buying a 1990 Exa.
I'm trying to get some information and pictures on these cars but the gallery and modifications pages aren't working. Is it just me or is there something wrong with them.

Thanks.

So what sort of things should I be looking for when puchasing an Exa?

I'm going to have a look at a white 1990 Non-Turbo with Big Mags. I'm not sure if they are 16's or 17's but they are the same mag that is on my 300zx. They are asking $8950.

Thanks.

Welcome to the club man :D

What state are you in?

I'd be looking over the coil packs for any damage or dirt, that can affect the way the car runs. Check the door and targa seals, you don't want to have to swim home when it rains.

Check what sort of spark plugs they are using, if their not platenium you can get a fair indication that the person who owns the car ain't too bright. Normal plugs will work for a little while, but as the coils ganerate alot of heat the plugs needs to be a colder type.

Other wise getting a tester to have a go over the car is the best thing.

Also make sure that the boot spoiler and rear demister work, because they work on a switch as the hatch is detachable, and to replace those switches is just more money.

Good luck with the car man ::cheers:

Thanks for the help.
I'm in Adelaide.

I have only just started seriously looking for an Exa in the last 2 days so I don't know much about them.

Why is the rear hatch detachable? Is it just so you can put a sportbak on?

Is the 1990 a 1.8i or a 1.6i. I thought that they were a 1.8 but I read somewhere that they are a 1.6.

Hey Darren.
I know the exa you're looking at. Its at that roadstyle motors (or along those lines) car yard on North East Road. They're 16" Hyperfangs (they're hyperfangs...im pretty sure they're 16, but the ad photo is disceiving) I think. I saw the car the other day, its got nx coupe wheels on it at the moment.
I was looking at it the other day...Looks pretty damn nice, bodywork is immaculate! Im very pissed off coz I would have bought it by now, but I cant coz my current car is defected so I cant sell it  Not till Start of March anyway :thumbsdow

Let me know about this car if you have a better look and a drive etc...
BTW, the trader says $8950 but the caryard says $8990

The 1990 is a 1.8ltr

See ya round

or you could just drive around with the hatch on just still open and up!! that way u get the best of both worlds, the openess of a convertable and u can kinda use the hatch as a rear wing.. lol thats what i did the other day by accident. ohh with exa's man i just bought one myself. 87- early 88 are usually 1.6L and from mid 88 onwards have the CA18DE or 1.8L engine. The 90 model u are looking at will have a 1.8L and should have rear disk brakes (90-91) instead of drums and series 3 seats (90-91) just take the car for a drive, check things like CV's and gearbox etc. aswell as power steering leaks. to give u an idea on price, Most decent condition exa's in a CA18DE u could pick up for bout 5K, perfect examples go for bout 8-9K and turbo exa's usually range from 10-14K. i got my exa which is a very nice car for 3K, pm me is u want details of my car to use as a comparison. ok mate goodluck with it anyway, don't get too excited and settle for the first one or two u see, have a look around first and find the best one, hope this helps, cya,
